I was wondering if anyone had any info on Snorkeling with Sea Turtles in Akumal? Is there a certain time of year to go and can this be done without paying for a tour, i.e. off the beach? I'm thinking of heading down there this month and if anyone has any tips then please pass them on. I also searched for somewhere reasonable to stay, like a cabana or posada but can only find one and it seems to be closed down, so if anyone knows anywhere decent to stay that is a fair price, please let me know. Thank you.
Thanks for the info. Is there a specific beach I should be looking for or part of a beach? I have a car so we'll drive down there one weekend early and see what we can find, just need to buy my own snorkel set (Again), see sams have some as you go in the door. Should be a worthwhile investment though, saves waiting on a list at the hotels to borrow a set for only 30 mins! I can't wait now, need to get an underwater camera.
Looks like a good camera, $250 on ebay in the states, i bet about umm 12,000 pesos here in Sams, if they have them? We have a canon rebel for on land but it's started playing up and you have to play with the lense to get it to take a picture or it just refuses! Of course this happened just right after the warranty ran out, never again will i not buy an extended warranty, much cheaper than insurance and everything always seems to break after 13 months of ownership nowdays! I'll be sure to check that beach out, just have to convince the wife and kids to deal with the long drive and away we go!
