This will be a our first time back to TTR in many a moon and I'm wondering how most of you stay in touch with home. We need to stay in touch with our kids and wondering if we should just suck it up and pay the expensive phone charges or should we try to use Skype or Face Time. Any suggestions?
They do have computers in the lobby that you can use, I cant remember exactly how much they charge though, Sorry.
We normally suck it up and pay ~$100 extra to call during a weeks vacation to "check in" everyday. The wireless internet it pretty slow and costs $15 a day, so you wouldn't be saving much by using skype. I have heard there is a coffee shop close by with free internet, but I don't know if it's fast enough to skype on.
I've heard before now that hooters in the Party Zone have free internet...so gives you a chance to see the other side, and you get internet as a bonus! We're very lucky, only have a few fish at home, which we transport to my brother when we're away, so no poor children to have to check back with!
we use our cell phone. we have AT&T and call and make changes to include calling from mex to home and it's not too bad. i forget what it is per min but cheaper then not putting on there. we just dont make the calls too long and the bill usually isn't bad
We have AT&T as well. Added Mexico for the month for $4.99 and it drops the rate down to $.59/minute. Not too bad, we call home everynight and its about $3.00/call. Got to watch the texting though, first trip I was texting back and forth with my kids, that got pretty pricey. Paul & Lisa
They have a machine on the resort that gives you pre paid phone card and we use it all the time. $10 got us about an hr. We would call and say a quick HI then call again in a day or so. I have 2 young babies and so Im calling atleast everyother day! I reccommend the phone cards adn never had a problem Goodluck
