We're booked for our first trip to Temptations -- April 11th - 15th -- and had a couple of questions. We usually drink beer and was wondering what kind of beer they serve at the resort -- draft, cans, bottles? Also, I like to have a glass or two of wine with dinner and I read somewhere that the house wine in the restaurants is horrible. Do you know if they would allow someone to bring their own bottle with them?

IMO, the house wine at one of the restaurants is usually not too bad for a house wine, but definitely not an upper end vintage. The quality of the white and red are about equal.

Getting a glass of wine at Patty-Os or Nice Shoes is dicey and usually disappointing. A glass from bottle of wine that has set outside all day and served in a plastic cup................I think you understand where I am going with this.

The wine there is TERRIBLE!! Completely undrinkable. They only have Dos XX - if you want good wine and different beer then stop somewhere and buy it. But as much as I like wine, it really isn't what I would drink at TTR - a vodka cranberry cocktail works much better for something lighter by the pool!

The better restaurants have a wine list, but you have to pay extra for that wine and the bottles are way over priced for the brands they offer. I think you could bring your own wine bottle to dinner without any problem.

If you drink wine at all regularly, you most likely won't be able to stand the swill at TTR. And for the love of god, don't try the "champagne." I promise I'm not being snobby - we have a wine fridge that is stocked almost exclusively with under-$10 wines, and a few of the better boxed wines (not an oxymoron anymore!) for those times when the taste buds are less picky.

Which brings me to my next point: boxed wines travel very well if you like wine in the room or to take in a mug to the pool. Black Box and Bota (to just name a couple) are both perfectly decent wines for poolside and hanging in the room. We take a box of red and a box of white in our checked luggage.

At dinner, well, I suppose you could take your box with you! But when we had wine at dinner we bought a bottle - they have several for ~300-350 pesos that are decent.

    Canadian Humour,

What do screwing in a canoe and American beer have in common?

They are both fucking close to water...

Ditto, we bring a box of pinot grigio in our checked luggage every trip:). Wine even at Wallyworld isn't as cheap as back home. You can leave your box behind Patyos and buy wine at dinner:)

Ahhh naive to that think American beer is Bud, Miller and Coors...they are the crap we send to the rest of the world.

Some of my favorites weekly brews (and I promise I can give 100 examples JUST like these).

Rampage Imperial IPA - Black Diamond Brewing Co. - Concord, CA - BeerAdvocate 9.0% alcohol by vol

    Torpedo® 7.2% Alcohol by vol

Anchor Brewing | Beers | Old Foghorn 8-10% Alcohol by vol

    Just saying...

Wendy didn't seem to have a problem with the wine. She drank some almost every night.

We drink Bota Box chardonnay all the time and it is better than most bottles under $20, great value. And yes, that would be very easy to bring with you in a checked bag, and it wouldn't break. I'm sure you can buy it at WalMart if bag weight is an issue. I still could never buy Franzia or any box wine called "chablis" - but Black Box and Bota are surprisingly good!
