One night i could handle. Anything more than that and my next accomodation might be a lovely little mexican jail cell. Hmmm.
We arrived on March 2nd and got the Sea Adventure treatment too. It was a long and fairly creepy cab ride at 2 am, as it's well outside the hotel zone and past a ton of abandoned construction. We heard the next day that other couples arrived after us and they did receive their rooms.....which was frustrating. We were told by the other guests that had we offered a cash incentive (aka bribe) to the desk staff, we would've been given our rooms......but it was my first time to Mexico, so I hadn't even considered that. I'm not saying this is an absolute truth, just what we were told by repeaters at Temptations. We did receive a room upgrade to an ocean view room, but this was another issue. When they realized we were staying for 2 weeks, they tried to pull a switcheroo on us and the guy took our bags to a room in the 2200's (above Paty O's) instead of to room 3403, which is what we'd been promised. We turned the guy around and went back to the desk.......and we were both pretty fired up. We get to the desk and all of a sudden NOBODY speaks any english (or french) and all 4 of the desk staff are really busy staring at their computer screens. I went over to Karen (the guest services person) and she stepped in for us and fixed the situation. She said that they had swapped the rooms because of the length of our stay, but since they'd put the room number (3403) in writing on our compensation sheet, she'd could use that to fight for us. And she really did fight. She confronted the front desk staff.....made some phone calls and then went back to the front desk, scanned our keys herself and got us our room. She also got us a 5 PM check-out, and massages which was great. I should say that all of the other staff at Temptations were fantastic (except for maybe the new Italian entertainment guy who doesn't seem to do anything) it was just the front desk staff we had issues with. And we had similar issues everytime our keys stopped working. We ended up meeting a great couple at Sea Adventure, who had also been bumped.....but they were only staying for 6 days, so the theory of the longer stays being bumped doesn't fit here. In the end, we made some friends at Sea Adventure and got a room upgrade for the 13 days with a late check-out......so it all worked out, but not without some frustration. Even with this experience, we'd still go back......but I'll be wary if it's for a shorter stay.
It's a sad prospect to think one might have to spend our vacation in a Mexican jail cell ! The only way I'm moving away from that front desk is with a room key or at gun point !
We fly out Saturday morning and are really excited! Be pretty pissed if we get bumped to another resort--even if it is for one night. Any rules about sleeping in Patty O's? :icon_lol:
Same thing happened with us on the same day of course......Part that pisses me off was they upgraded us to a Jacuzzi suite and tried twice to screw us out of that. We finally got our room and it was 2206 which is within pissing distance of Paty O's when I asked the guy when did they start putting Jacuzzi suites on the second floor he tried to tell me I was never offered an upgrade. Thing is they were way to comfortable telling people they were over booked which tells me this is common practice at this wonderful resort. Only thing that was good about this place was the people who visit the place and if they keep up the good work they won't have that anymore....Just sayin.
Resort has the most repeaters than any other hotel in cancun n is getting busier year after year. Its not gonna change anytime soon. But they defienetely could do things differently for sure
