Hey guys, my wife and I have been going to Temptations since it was Blue Bay Getaway. We last went in October and it rained every day. We were also dissapointed that Lalo, Chinos and Omar had left. There were no pool activities because of the weather. I'm wondering if there is a funtional event staff working and what it's been like recently. Also the food was pretty bad last year and I'm hoping the quality has improved so I can book a trip there this June. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hope you like to read, Jodie & I first went Jan 17 - 24, 2012 then decided to return February 24 to March 2, 2012.... it only gets better with each trip, here is the link to our last trip review with pictures. http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/tem...-boob-cruise-feb-24-march-2-2012-warning.html
we had no issues with the entertainment, although our only exposure to chinos and omar was on the Boobs Cruise, we can say that the entertainement would have been exceptional had they still been at the resort. hell, we heard about chinos in cabo for petes sake. the food was fine, no complaints, except same old same old at the buffet, quality was good. ala carts was exceptional.
Just got back in February and also wrote a trip report. The feel of the crowd and the level of fun was the same, if not better, than this time last year--don't believe the rumors that things aren't happening now that Chinos is gone. I think the time of year that you visit TTR matters quite a bit--February is more fun than September, for example. Food had slipped but only by a tiny bit.
Thanks for the replies. As hard as I try to try another resort, Temptations keeps pulling me back in!
i was also there in october. we just missed the rain but had the same experience that you did with the rest of the resort...... Now ,that being said we were there last may also (and the 10 mays before that all the way to the old BBG days) and it was amazing!!! we used to go in october also and had several great trips and a few not so great. i could easily imagine if those trips had been my only adventure to TTR that i would have questioned going back. we are going again in 6 weeks and couldnt be more excited. dont let one so-so experience turn you away. like any kind of party the place runs the vibes of the guests, the more peeps the better the party. frank
We were there Oct. 15-20 and the weather was terrible, it was our first trip and we were bummed. We did see the potential for fun with good weather and decided to return Jan. 25-Feb 1 for our anniversary. Night and Day wouldn't quite touch the two trip experiences for us, but let's just say we will never go there again in Oct. It isn't worth going in the bad weather, and the risk of tropical storms is the greatest in mid-Oct. in that area (the worst hurricanes ever to hit Cancun were all mid-late Oct.). We like to eat in very nice restaurants so for us the food at TTR is ok, but probably just fine for an all inclusive in that affordable price range. I wish they had more Mexican food (don't get good Mexican food in Seattle, shocker!), and more steak options without bacon - but I'm much more picky than the average person about food I don't like. My husband really liked the Asian restaurant, and he liked the lasagna at the Italian restaurant. Just a tip, if you order steak "medium" they will give it to you well done, tell them as much as you can if you don't know Spanish, the way you want it to look inside to get it cooked right. If you have the option to do the dinner on the beach, pay the $50 each and do that. It was romantic, all you can eat (especially if you love seafood, that is mostly what they have), and they have a private top shelf bar for that dinner - and you can stay for 3+ hours and drink all you want. We really liked that dinner.
Yeah, if you were that disappointed the last time you were there because of the entertainment staff changes and the lack of quality food, we would suggest booking another resort when you come back in June.
Yeah, we thought a lot about it after our first trip and after reading a lot more on this forum and came to the conclusion that we can go out to eat in a top quality restaurant virtually anywhere else, including here at home. I doubt any all-inclusive would have that level of cuisine without it being triple the cost of TTR, at least. The food is fine for what we paid for the room/trip, and we are really there for the people, the parties, the sexy pool stuff, the Boobs Cruise, and having a good time together away from home. TTR is awesome for all that, and the price is extremely affordable for what you actually get in return.
