I don't like Techno either ... but for what its worth, they don't actually play Techno at TTR Techno is a small part of the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) genre that fell out of signifigance 15+ years ago (except for die-hards of course). What we hear at TTR is mainly Top40, Commercial Trance, House, Electro, Breaks, Hip Hop and I would imagine they are throwing in a bit of Dub Step by now. It sucks that they aren't reading the crowd though .. but with such a dynamic group of people it would be difficult to please everyone. That and they probably have a very limited library to choose from (When I do a gig i generally take only the tracks for my set plus some backups in case the DJ before me played one of the tracks on my list), so its a little difficult. This is the main reason why I don't DJ at my company xmas party any more ...
My husband and I have owned a successful DJ company for over 30 years and could never understand how people can run a preset playlist over and over. Every group is different and has a wide variety of music preferences. That's why a good DJ has the ability to read the crowd and play a great variety to serve all the guests! There is no reason why they can't do the same at TTR. At the very least take some requests or switch it up a bit. We've been to other resorts that would or even play something for awhile off your ipod or cd. THey play great music at TTR but we do find it repetitive. But that is not why we are there.
You think they would have a problem with someone hooking up their ipod to the system and playing from that?
The music varies by time of year. What I would be interested to know, is whether there is a method behind the madness. tends toward techno in the spring for sure. remember its like everything else. if you tip the dj, youll get better choices in music.
When I was there in January, they did play a lot of Techno, but there were times he did mix it up and played some great songs to get people going. As others have said though, when you meet so many great people there and start talking and having a blast, the music is just background noise.
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Honestly, we don't notice the music until the very end of the night when I'm drunk enough to be "dancing" Jason...and that's only if they play some music that I like. We're too busy talking and cracking up with everyone else there...or drinking (then all the music sounds good, haha):headbanger:
La gente esta muy loca WTF i found it wasnt to loud but yes repetitive was too busy dancing and enjoying the views
