Hello guys- Just finalizing my travel details and came down to this very last question. I have an AT&T unlimited text plan (not sure if that really matters for international texting). However, I was wondering if anyone knew off their top of their heads how much it is generally for sending/receiving texts in Mexico? I already emailed my service provider but was wondering if I can get a quicker answer here. Thanks!
Your provider will have a plan add-on you can purchase for your trip. if you are only going to send and recieve a couple you shouldn't even need it. Now data useage on the other hand could cost you a small fortune, make sure you shut that down, otherwise you shouldn't have to much to worry about. Even phone calls are a reasonable charge with AT&T or Rogers Wireless (Canada).
U need to call AT&T bec it does matter for intenational texting !! and its about 25 cent or 50cents in each receiving and sending ! i called sprint to let them know and i am on international texting forever when i am out of USA i only uses it for emergency !!
That is why I said depends on how much texting one plans on. Last year I didn't come close to breaking even on my international plan add on.. Never found time for texting. I also sent out a blanket text to all my contacts that I was out of the country so only recieved one unsolicited text well I gone. Now that is with Rogers Wireless in Canada, but they are affiliated with AT&T.
right on !!! never have a time to text when i am in cancun !! and why wld u b textingif u r away from the reality !!! lol :icon_razz:
one of my friends who I always go with ran his bill up to $500 last year with an unlimited plan from verizon but he was always on it...
Mine bill was $30 extra for the week. You just have to know how much different activities cost and go for the cheaper option. For example, Sprint international data roaming rate is $0.004/KB. An email (pure text, no picture or video attachment) takes up about 1KB. A sms txt costs $0.20-0.50. A phone call costs $2/min. What do you use? It's really simple. If you are going to use data roaming, just be careful. Don't go surf the internet or watch video on it. Load a high quality picture from the internet that's 2MB? That's $8. Stream a 1GB movie? You may go bankrupt. Unlimited domestic plan don't work outside of the US. Most US mobile providers got rid of unlimited data plan a long time ago. Some may have prepaid plans (eg 25mb per $25 or something like that) that may be cheaper than just roaming without a plan. You will have to check.
