So about 76 cents/litre using the Canadian dollar? Hot damn, I mean it's a little out of the way but it's about 35% cheaper than what I fill up for at the moment!
With oil prices at and above $100/barrel, more or less all the time, there is no way for these prices to go but up. Mexico is a leading producer of petroleum, but the government will push prices up, as necessary, to be sure domestic consumption remains stable, and the prices paid here, reasonably in line with world prices.
Since the 1930s, the Mexican Federal Government has been the only major actor in the Mexican petroleum industry. What's the situation in Canada? It may not only be high taxes that make petroleum products more expensive, in Canada.
It's very similar to how it's run in the USA. Lots of privately owned oil companies etc so our price is determined by market rates with a pile of extra taxes on top (probably 35-40% once you add all of them up). The government at one time had ownership of Petro-Canada but that's long since been sold off.
Dont forget to add the difference in salaries to the equation when comparing gas prices. Ps. Wonder when the oil industry will allow us to step over to non-fossil fuel
