rdubnpk Now it seems the fickle flavor of the week is Rick (the Dark Ages candidate) Santorum. The last guy you all elected that asked God every time he made a decision before making it seemed to come up with all the wrong answers. The comment I have heard is that he would have been the perfect guy if this was the 1300's. Look out women's rights!
First point.....this is not really a good forum to make political statements. to the point...I never believe anything I read or hear on the news or read in the papers about any candidates. I seek out my own information. From what I have already learned about Santorum he has more character than just about anyone out there in both parties. Thats my last comment on this. Back to vacation planning !! yayyyyy
rdubnpk There are political discussions on this forum all the time, chief. And you're right. He is a character.
Is it OK if I quote myself, on this forum? See the thread, "What?" As the spotlight of public attention moves from one front runner to the next in the Republican nominating process, each fails to withstand the scrutiny. If you're a politician, you'd better run on your record, as anything else will appear phony. Romney found there was nothing he's done with his life that he can run on, in a Republican primary- not his religious affiliations and heartfelt convictions, not his achievements as governor of Massachusetts, not his acquisition of wealth as a financier. He's left with claiming positions, and political beliefs that no one finds credible. Newt is Newt- a brilliant, egotictical blowhard, and morally rudderless. Santorum holds beliefs which, in many respects, will make Ron Paul look very mainstream, once they become fully known. His most recent pronouncements on men's response, on the battlefield, to women serving with them could have come straight from the lips of many of those who wear black turbins in Afghanistan, as they explained why it was necessary for women to wear Burkhas when in the presence of men. What it revealed, more than anything, is that he, like "W" before him, is content with his beliefs, and actually knows nothing.
I'm not crazy about him either, but Obama has got to go. He is so out of touch with what this country is about and how to make things work. I have never seen anyone this bad. I'd love to ask him just one question, what do we do when the money runs out? There has to be someone out there who can rein in the incredibly stupid give aways.
When the money runs out you have Greece on a much larger scale. In a general election Santorum is not electable. As much as it pains me Romney is our best bet. BTW the whole Santorum dead baby thing is really creepy...
rdubnpk I would probably be OK except for the sex is just for procreation thing. The objection to contraceptives thing. The science is totally wrong about the age of the earth thing. The burning Desire to legislate who you are in bed with and what you do there thing. The................................
We take it as an article of faith that our political system is best; yet, when you look at the people it puts forward to fill the most difficult and responsible job known to man, you have to wonder. This simply can't be the best we can do.... I'd have been happy to give Colin Powell a shot at the office, if he hadn't decided not to run. He embarrassed himself with the WMD in Iraq presentation at the UN, but otherwise he had intelligence, a solid record of achievement, management skills and good character to offer as a candidate; and, still does, so far as I'm concerned.
