First time single goin feb. 19th. What is the best way to avoid time share presentation? I get into mexico at 10 am. Also, what is the earliest rooms are ready? I should be at the resort by 11 am since i got a direct transfrer, and am not above tipping to get my room early.
Best way to avoid time share people is to tell front desk that this is not your first time here. Then, also tell the time share people that you have already heard the presentation, and are not interested. There is a chance your room could be ready, depending on how full the hotel is. And you could throw a $20 at them and see what happens, but it is no sure thing.
After checking in, one of the resort reps will explain your weeks activities to you, give you a map of the hotel, what time breakfast, lunch, dinner is available at and where you'll need to go to make reservations for the ala carte restaurants. At the end of it which only takes about 10 minutes, and the info is very helpful if it is your first time there, then they will explain to you about the tour and ask for a $10 to $30 deposit for the time share tour. Although we said we were not interested, they still pushed a bit for a free bottle of tequila, t-shirt, or a insulated thermos, and apparently you get your deposit back. We said we had no money for the deposit yet and that we weren't interested at all, they still booked it the following morning by calling us at 9am and eventually knocking on the door. We just ignored them and went and had breakfast and didn't hear back from them at all during the balance of our stay.
Oh yeah, and as soon as you get to your room, might as well unplug the phone right away so you don't forget to do it later because they will be calling you every morning around 8:30/9:00am.
Really??? We had a totally different experience our first time. We got the tip from this site to tell the resort we'd been there before to avoid the timeshare thing, and it worked just fine. We recieved no phone calls the entire week. Oh well, different experiences for different folks I suppose.
in my experiences j to tell them i am hearing impaired it works every time they will NOT bother u just pretend u uses sign langauge !! LOL I am really hearing impaired !! thats my advantage !! LOL :clappyinghappy::ernaehrung015:
Kristenanddoug are right--unplug the phone! We had the same problem with morning calls our first time until we did that. I couldn't tell you if they ever called the second visit because I unplugged it the second we got there. It's not very nice, but if you want the map and overview and want to make it up to your room without a 15-minute argument about why you need the "breakfast" you can set up a time slot, refuse to pay the deposit (We just said no firmly, twice, and they accepted it) and then unplug the phone and not show up.
All good replies... we typically get there early afternoon. Room still may or may not be ready and yes, once you have your wristband on, enjoy the beverages at the the sexy pool bar. Giving a tip may help, and definitely does to get a better room. Especially if you have one that faces off the resort (such as the rooms that face the street).
