Yes this might appear to be a strange thread to post but this is a big deal & I just wanted to share and get to know people. My husband Manuel & I met 10 years ago in Cancun. We dated long distance (& not so long distance spending months together at a time in either Cancun or Toronto). We got married in 2005 and have been living in Toronto ever since. Well recently Manuel finally became a Canadian citizen! Our plan was always for him to get his Can. citizenship opening up the possibility of us being able to live and work a little more freely between Toronto and Cancun. (yes I know we have done things quite differently than most) My 11 year old step-daughter still lives in Cancun with her mom and we desperately want to be able to spend more time with her which is a big motivator for us wanting to split our lives between countries/cities. Like I said I just wanted to share and hopefully meet people. Oh and job wise my husband & I do photography, I have a background in television/video production/media & public relations and part-time I work as a certified Fitness/Zumba/Aqua Zumba/Zumbatomic (Zumba for kids) Instructor. We're hoping these are all transferable skills to keep us somewhat busy in either city. Hope to meet some of you lovely people!
Congrats! My husband is just now making a bit of noise about getting his US citizenship, but I am not yet ready for the amount of studying and coaching necessary to get him to pass the test. It sounds like your skills are equally transferable to both cities!
That sounds amazing, congratulations. Jodie and I build and renovate swimming pools here in Toronto (GTA) though out the summer and would love to live and work in Cancun in the winter, is it possible? Any suggestions would be great, we're looking forward to comments and suggestions. Temp Employment at Temptations would be Ideal, especially on the Boob Cruise lol
Thanks everyone! And yes I know there was very little "crazy" about our long term plan that has been slowly in place for awhile now!!! lol I hope to get the chance to meet some of you one day (as I've been poking around on this forum for years & years now!) I know there are quite a few awesomely interesting characters on here
Congratulations you two! Welcome to Canada, Manuel. You have probably figured out that if you are going to split your time between countries then winter would be a good time to be in Mexico
Thanks Brewster! Yes although we've been spoiled here in Toronto this winter (we've only really had to shovel once!) that would be our plan. As wedding photographers spring/summers are nice and busy here but winters really slow down. There are so many people we care so much about in both cities that we need to make it work
