We (two first-time couples) were there for a week in January, and people on this board were so helpful in preparing us that I thought we should pay it forward with our own trip report and an insight or two. AIRPORT TRANSFERS We used USA Transfers ($65 RT for 4 people) and were very happy with them. No extra stops along the way. ROOMS It surprised us how many variations there are in identically priced rooms. We ended up changing rooms twice. We got there late on a Saturday night, which every week is probably the night most likely to be booked solid. The room they took us to was on the ground floor and was very musty smelling, with two double beds instead of a king. How romantic. So we asked for something (anything) else and they put us in the only remaining king room they had. It was near Paty O's. The room was much nicer, but it was LOUD - not so much from the music, but from our fellow inebriated partiers yelling to each other in the hallway all night. So after two nights we moved AGAIN - this time to a top-floor room away from the action. It was perfect, plus the shower was huge, with TWO "rain" shower heads. Changing rooms is a PITA, but it was worth the hassle for us. SEXY POOL We spent pretty much all day every day here, and it was the highlight(s) of our trip. We loved the party atmosphere, the hilarious activities, the very fun people, and of course the plethora of boobies. Was it a "frat boy" crowd, as others have reported? I guess it depends how you define "frat boy." We are in our 30s and 40s and I'd say the majority of others at the pool were too. I suppose that many of the men (and women) behaved like frat boys, but we didn't consider that a bad thing. It was really really REALLY fun and is the main reason we want to return ASAP. TIPS While you're preparing for your trip, ask at your local bank for "padded ones." We had tear-off pads of 100 $1 bills, and they were compact and handy. And apparently the servers don't mind receiving soaking-wet US $1 bills. NIGHT LIFE We enjoyed ourselves at Paty O's and Nice Shoes so much that we never had any Desire to hop a bus to any other night clubs. We felt like we were already at the best club in town (with free drinks, no less), so why pay more to go somewhere else? WEATHER We were there in mid-January and our weather was perfect. Right around 80 in the daytime with a gentle breeze, and warm enough at night to not give the weather a thought. POOLS AT NIGHT We didn't try them and few others did either. I'm sure they were cold. MISS Temptation The Miss Temptation finals happened the week we were there. Some people had expressed concern that this would disrupt the activities, but instead we thought we hit the jackpot. We made friends with a couple of the finalists and their SO's, and they were party starters both at the pool and at the dances. They were the kind of amazing people that seem too good to be true. We occasionally wonder if we just imagined them. SWINGERS We had never been before and were intimidated by the prospect of swingers. In fact, some of our friends refused to join us on this trip for that reason. Having been there now, I don't know what anyone is afraid of. Is the fear that you're going to be compelled to have sex with multiple strangers multiple times a day? Well, you're not. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) The truth is that everyone at Temptation is in party/vacation mode, so pretty much everyone is very friendly but not pushy, whether they're swingers or not. We never worried about having to differentiate who was and who wasn't. Talking to people at Temptation is like talking to people anywhere else: If the conversation starts going somewhere you're uncomfortable with, take it in another direction. It's the people who create the vibe. And we LOVED the vibe. Boobs Cruise We ended up not going. (Sorry. We suck. I know.) But without fail, everyone we talked to who went on the Boobs Cruise LOVED it. "Best day of the trip" was a common refrain. We'll try it next time. FARMACIA There is a pharmacy directly across the street from Temptation, where you can buy pretty much anything without a prescription. Two warnings, however: (1) Customs ransacked our bags when we returned to the US. They dumped out our toiletry bags and makeup bags and even emptied out our breath mints. Either they received a bad tip that we were packing contraband or they just do this randomly. So don't pack home anything that you don't want the US CBP to find. (2) If you take Viagra and wake up in the middle of the night needing to pee, it might be very hard. Yes, I meant that. OVERALL We get around, and this was quite possibly our best vacation ever. We're already talking about next time.
PLUSH TOYS!!!!! It was my mission to find you on our trip Jan12-19 but to no avail!!! I thought you were hilarious in your posts before the trip and was looking forward to meeting you! Maybe next time! Glad to hear that you had just as good as time as we did- we are DEFINAtLELY going back!
Hahaha, lynnshaun, I'm sure you found us, whether you realized it or not. You know those people at the pool? Holding drinks? Having a crazy-ass great time? That was us. We didn't go around telling people our message board handle, but I'll be damned: We were in a random conversation with a random couple about random BS, and out of the blue they said, "Are you Plush Toys?" I thought, wow, are we that transparent? We wouldn't survive a day in the Secret Service. And I hear ya about going back. We'll race you!
