I've done the adventure day, with the atv's, zip lining, etc.... It was fun... Last trip booked Chichen itza at the towel hut, word to the wise, they only do "pick up service" from the hotel then you have to switch buses at about half an hour into the trip. Have chicken itza booked for Saturday with a private tour from ccc this time.

We feel that since it is 2012 that we have to visit the Mayan ruins to see the zombies, but we hate the idea of an organized tour, we'll see how that goes.

Every trip we take a day trip to Isla Mujeres, not an organized tour, just on our own with a group of whoever wants to go from TTR.

We take a cab to the ferry, ferry to Isla, rent golf carts for the day and cruise around the island stopping wherever anyone wants. We get a bunch of beer for the day to take on the carts, stop somewhere for lunch, go to Playa Norte to swim and have drinks at one of the bars, stop to pet the nurse shark, etc. It's an amazing, fun day every time we go.

I did the Jungle Maya Expedition last year and had an amazing time... Very small group with a great guide... Zip lined, snorkeled, mountain biked, mayan purification ritual and a bunch of other fun stuff!

    Chicken Pizza

Chichen Itza is a must if you are at all interested in old cultures.
It is fasinating if you get a good guide.
This is the center of the whole Mayan calendar belief that this is our last year.
Party like it's 2012( just doesn't sound quite right)

On our honeymoon, we did a one day, two destination excursion. It was Tulum and Xel-Ha. FANTASTIC. Got to see some really cool ruins at Tulum and then spent the afternoon snorkelling at Xel-Ha with all kinds of amazing fish and sea creatures. I'd recommend this split-excursion if you want to do both the ruins thing and the snorkelling thing, but only want to get away on one day.
