Imho there are no 'shitty excursions'. Shitty excursions would not last long by virtue of being "shitty" :)

With 7 days you probably wouldn't want to do more than 2 or maybe 3. Depends what you like to do, every one has different priorities. My list of must do's if I had only 3 to choose from would be:

    Chichen Itza
    Isla Mujeres
    Xcaret

    then maybe:
    Swim With Dolphins
    Tulum
    Xplor
    Xel Ha

Both are really good places to visit:

Xelha: Here its most about the ocean and water. Like the beautiful lagoon to snorkel in and the river to float along. Expect to spend most of the day in or at the water.

Xcaret: In my oppinion the best bang for the buck. Lots of interesting shows, mexican culture plus a beautiful beach. And the longest day, so the best bang for the buck. And dont miss out the evening show, which is really spectacular. If you missed that you missed the best part.

Steve hit the head on this. Take in what you can they are ALL amazing and worth every penny. We generally go to Isla Mujeres on our own. Catch the Ultramar Ferry get over there and rent a golf car and spend the day touring around the small Island. Stop and have lunch and do some shopping in the streets! Much cheaper than the excursion and you are on your own time. Don't get me wrong, the excursion is really fun too. All kinds of games and music. They keep you busy all day but you don't get to see much of the Island.

Xcaret , chichen Itza definately. You can do Isla Mujeres easily without booking a tour. A fun night is Captain Hook.
    Have fun
