Before they made being gay openly in the military acceptable earlier this year, gays served in the military without any major issues. Some had issues because they were so openly gay they flaunted it with the straight soldiers and actually made attempts to convert them to be gay. This is where the problems with gays in the military came into a problem. In reality don't ask don't tell was not really an issue as it is no issue anywhere else in society. We should have left them alone to serve their country and as long as they protected us and the rest of their platoons who cares if they are gay or not. I never cared who killed Osama as long as they were Americans. One day it may come out that the soldier who actually shot Osasma was gay(by the way I do not know this but just assuming what if?) and the gay community will rub this into everyone's face as see we told you so? There are problems with both sides of this issue. Let the soldeirs serve their country, and what they do behind closed doors is none of our business. As for Gov. Perry he can say whatever he wants since we live in a free country. Like it or not the straight and gay soldiers make sure that he can speak as he wishes and express his opinions freely. If you do not like him don't vote for him. Plain and simple as it can get. If you don't vote for a candidate the less likely you will hear their opinion.
One sentence caught my eye... Can't we just say that some soldiers felt uncomfortable being hit on? I would hope at this point we could get past the whole recruitment BS... If a gay guy hits on me I will say no thanks, but not assume I am being recruited lol. I think it's become pretty clear that people are either gay or straight and that its not a learned trait.
You can't make someone gay...and you can't make someone straight either, which I would suggest is tried far more frequently. I understand that Michele Bachman was pretty worried it was going to be open season on sheep after Article 125 banning bestiality was striken. Article 125 states: “(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.” Geez...drop that and there will be goat lap dances in canteens everywhere. And Obama is waging a war on religion? Really?? There is nothing like fabricating a threat and feeding the fear to motivate ignorant voters.
