I think we need to veto the white theme for NYE!!! Even white OR red...isn't this the naughty or nice week? So white would be that angelic "nice" side and red would be the devilish "naughty" side. Red is MUCH easier to find this time of year!!!!!

Dates are announced one month in advance and chosen based on the amount of interest shown and if we can get enough people together.

I'm thinking Jan 2nd may be looking good, or maybe a few days later than that with an additional earlier one between Christmas and New Year

Will leave it a couple of weeks and see how the numbers and interest looks at the beginning of December.

    Steve,

We are interested in going but i get seasick easily. I am going to get some seasick patches for the ear.

However, we've never been on a catamaran and hoping you can answer some newbie questions. Is this rockier than a normal sail boat? Does it go pretty fast? Is there alot of wobbling in the water or is it pretty much moving most times?

we'll be coming in on the 24th of dec and leaving 1st of jan. Hope to make it

Well...we've sort of figured out our schedule and sad to say this will be the first time in quite a few years that we will be missing New Year's Eve at TTR.

This past summer we purchased some property in Phoenix so we're going to take our son there for Christmas and New Years.

We're hoping to return in March or April again but this time for two weeks.

We're going to miss everyone! It will definitely be a different type of celebration week.

A catamaran is less rocky than a sail boat. A sail boat has only one hull so you get the rolling form side to side motion. A catamaran has two hulls (one either side) so the side to side motion is very much reduced. Not sure on the speed but I wouldn't call it fast.

The sea never really gets rough for our trips imho, if it does the Harbourmaster cancels all trips. You could call it a little choppy sometimes but that is very much dependent on the weather, which obviously no one can predict this far out. The area we sail is between the island and the mainland an 8 mile wide stretch of water and the island already acts as a wave break from the open ocean on its other side.

The boat is moving 95% of the time, we are stationary for a few minutes to allow snorkelers out and then back in but the rest of the time it is moving. We also spend around 3 hours on land at the island.

I see lots of people wearing the behind the ear seasick patches and also we have Dramamine available on board which is quite effective. Even on the choppy days probably a maximum of 10% get sick, so say 4 or 5 out of a group of 40. Most of the time it's none, or one or two.

    haha, will try!

Just that I updated the roll call this morning and after about the 10th we don't have many people around for a few weeks. Numbers do pick up as we approach New Year but not sure if they'll pick up enough for us to run one either side of New Year or just one in the middle.

It's a few weeks yet before a decision is needed so we'll see how the numbers change as new people find the forum.
