Guys, can we flip this back to chat about the hurricane? It's a hugely important issue and people need to know what's happening, so lets try and keep it on topic. Feel free to start as many new threads as you like about other subjects.
I can't believe i"m going to miss the Boobs Cruise!!! That sux. Considering doing the resort cruise but sounds a little lame, maybe if enough others go,we will. Kelly cat - working on that picture
Next hurricane update is due at 11pm (10pm Cancun time) so about an hour from now. Rina is still a category 2, but with sustained wind speeds of 110mph is just 1mph shy of being a Cat 3. The 11pm update may well put her in the next Category and she will be officially a "Major" Hurricane. The Cancun local Government are also making a statement at 11pm Cancun time, we'll find out if our daughter has school tomorrow amongst other things.
Air Travel Hi All, this is a repost from Octobers roll call. Quick intro, Kary is a F/A and I am a pilot. We do quite a bit of travels and unfortunately hurricanes are rather a pain in the arse. Unpredictable and can be quite damaging as we all know. We have been to Temptations in Cabo and also to Desires before it became Temptations. We are newbies to Cancun but looking forward to it. For those of us arriving during the hurricanes window make sure you check with your airline for your travel dates to and from Cancun for the next several days, lots of pre-emptive cancellations are now being set due to the hurricane. If you are setup with automatic notifications from the airline, it usually works, but sometimes it does not. Therefor make sure you double check with your airline for departures to and from Cancun. At AA they have cnx'd all the 27th flts to and from DFW and Cancun. On the 28th the first morning flt is cnx'd going to Cancun out of DFW and the first and second flt out of Cancun to DFW are cnx'd. When I flew fighters in the Navy we used to say "flexibility is the key to airpower", however for the commerical travels these days it is a bit modified as "flexibility is the key for commerical travels". So be flexible on your travels in the next few days and readily check with your airline for the status of your flight to Cancun. And remember when checking specifically ask about the Cancun leg, airlines have been known to tell you your flights are okay only to get to an intermediate stop and your next leg is cancelled. Good luck and hope to see you all there. K&G
