Entertainment without Chino

We have just returned last Weds and spent 1 week at Temptations without the entertainment staff we have grown to love. It was VERY different. Brenda is new to the staff, although I hear she was previously on staff years ago. IMHO she is the best they have got right now. That said however, it is very low key compared to what it used to be. Granted we lost a great deal of time at the pool due to the weather but even on the good days the staff struggled to get participation from the guests. Miss Temptaions contest was replaced with Salsa lessons (I assume due to lack of contestants) No more Naked Teq VB (regular Teq VB yes) No Daring Darts (Reg Darts yes) even Cardio, which always had a surprise at the end did not.
The announcements were very hard to understand and were said so quickly I doubt everybody heard what was going on (contributing I'm sure to lack of participation). Sara has a thick accent and I could not understand her announcements at all.
On the third day of rain a group of us donned our suits and out to the pool we went in the wind and rain and opened the sexy pool! As we "encouraged" others to join and the numbers grew we lobbyed to get the bar open and the music turned on. The food service supervisor at first delivered drinks to the pool but finally relented and opened the bar. The entertainment staff was not as accomodating. One of them was somewhat angry with us and said "NO way! everything is inside today". Eventually Brenda did relent and turned on the music. The premier bar staff came out and opened the premier bar. I doubt any of this would have happen had the guests not been so insistant.
All in all we had a good time with the people you always meet at TTR but I was very disappointented in the "new" entertainment. Hopefully, Chino will come back or the new staff will grow into the old style but, for now be prepared for a difference! Those of you who are repeaters and fill out surveys, make sure you let the management know how much Chino and the old staff are missed. On a side note, I was surprised when I heard a familiar voice in the "sun care specialist announcement". Those of you who remember Amy and her English accent know her. She is now working for the company that sells sun care products at the pool. It was a pleasure to see her and reminise about the old style entertainment. I was glad to see she is doing well but wish she was back up there leading the entertainment.

 

Chinos was indeed the best; no one can fill his shoes. He was just a genuinely funny guy who could make the silly games exciting. That said, the toning down of the games and such is directed from somewhere up above the ent staff level. That might well have been a contributing factor in Chinos departure. We heard all sorts of rumors while we were there a couple weeks ago; generally variations on what's been posted here and not worth repeating. But, if somehow Chinos wound up back at TTR, we'd be thrilled along with a whole lot of other repeaters.

 

Thanks for your update, we just cancelled our trip today. We were heading into the storm, and didn't think we'd have as much fun. I know we made the right choice. We rescheduled for Feb...hopefully the resort will have a great staff and up the entertainment by then!

I completely agree with you. We could not understand anything that Sara said. We asked Sara about Ms Temptations and she said it was announced; however, we were by the pool and never heard a thing. We both noticed that with the new addition above the restroom, there's something funky with the sound system and you can't hear as well. I think they need new speakers or additional speakers or something. The lack of volume and Sara's accent leads you to only hear "blah, blah, blah...". Our group also agreed that Sara and Brenda are not very friendly. Wish we could have T, Amy or Stacy back!!!
