Hurricane Rina headed for Cancun

    Normally we do, but when you book through the resort there is no option for that afaik. It does look like the credit card has automatic cancellation and delay insurance (it is an avion platinum for cryin out loud....) so we may be all right.

    From what I can see the storm will have pretty much passed by Sunday morning anyways so we'll probably be ok. Just hope everyone and everything makes it through as unscathed as possible in the meantime......

    Steve, As a newbie not sure how it goes,but cheapcarribbean said if the resort would issue a notice that it is likely to shut down or evac then all could cancel and get the money back and also not be a burden to evac later less the better. Let me know your thoughts please. Stinks this was to be our first trip to cancun and to TTR. Troy

    I honestly don't know about refunds in the event of an evacuation. I do know that evacuation orders come from the local Government, it's not usually a hotel decision.

    We're from the states and last April we booked thru CAA Travel out of Toronto. They don't offer Trip Ins. either for prople booking out of the country so I just Googled it and found a stateside company with no problem. Just some food for thought!
    Good luck to all who might be going or that have to cancel!
    Hopefully we'll see most of you next April!

    Refunds

    I spoke with Desire as we were doing a split trip and I believe they are under the same management and they told me that if the hotel or airports are shut down or closed we would receive a refund. I have yet to speak with TTR.

    I bought the insurance but you only get 75 % back which stinks. you pay for the insurance which is a cost and you only get 75% back thats hundreds lost. It would be a 100% back but the resort is not making the call but worse it the fricken airlines not making the call, srew it lets bring more people to the area for the resorts to worrie about we the airlines made our money. I know wah wah, but we own our own bussiness and I would not do that to my customers. Oh well enough crying but it is frustrating talking to these people. I am just pissed off that this is my only chance to get to TTR and cancun until next oct. and Rina has to show up uninvited. #3@**#*%

    We're going to make the best of it.......by Sunday it will have mostly passed.....with any luck we'll get a little sunshine during our trip.
    Lol, wish we had kept our original travel date which was Monday the 31st, it would have been totally gone by then..

    We rescheduled and are now flying in Oct 31. Just in time for the Halloween party!
