AA and US Air have issued their policies for this storm. As much as we hate it, we are cancelling or rescheduling. Damn it!
We arrive Sunday, hopefully things have settled down a bit by then. We booked thought the resort and cancellation isn't an option.........
We are also in the same boat we booked threw the resort also. My question is that after the strom has gone the clean up could take a while, also getting power back once it has been lost could take longer. I am starting to not get warm fuzzy feelings about this but am keeping my fingers crossed.
Yeah, not exactly the news I wanted to wake up to this morning. Hopefully everyone stays safe and rides it out when it does hit and double hopefully the damage is minimal. I'm going to have to have a read through the resort booking policies and see what the result is in cases of storm cancellations. I'm pretty sure it said no refunds period, but that may only apply if we cancel........:icon_cry: Edit: found it.......great "Refund: No refund in case of cancellation or early check out, natural disaster, no shows and delayed or cancelled flights" Hmmmm, maybe membership doesn't have it's perks........
well keep your fingers crossed guys, the storm could change quite a bit as well. And depending on your credit card many of the good ones have built in travel insurance which could help as well!
2pm update is in and things are not looking any better, just slowly confirming that things aren't going to be pleasant over Thursday and Friday. For those who are still on the fence about cancelling my advice would be to go ahead and cancel if you are due to arrive Wed, Thurs or Fri. If the hurricane comes very close, which it looks like doing, there is a good chance that hotels will be evacuated. It might sound fun to ride out the hurricane but the fact of the matter is if you're evacuated to a downtown school sleeping on the floor en masse, with no bar, limited facilities, and constantly bailing out water it isn't that much fun at all.
Yeah it doesn't look too good at the moment Steve. I hope everyone down there gets through as unscathed as possible and that the damage isn't too severe (my own greedy reasons aside of course)!
Buying trip insurance is the only way to go! What's a 125 bucks extra (For 2 that is), when you're spending 2500 - 4000 for the VaCa!!
