We really enjoy our time at TTR but we like to head down to Playa at least once or twice to explore the town and beaches. We've always taken a taxi....is public transportation a viable option??
Yes, take a bus from outside the hotel to the main bus station downtown. Then there is a bus that leaves regularly for Playa del Carmen. Cheap and comfortable - air con and wifi on board.
Good info to know Steve. Question...the bus outside the resort...do you take one heading into the club zone (across the street) or take a bus at the stop on the same side as the resort to get to the main station?
same side it is the same side as Temptation.just ask for the bus station down town..think you have to walk 2 blocks...we have done the trip a few times xx

Sorry, cant give you too much accurate advice on that - living here we have a car so don't use buses at all anymore. Also don't get too much chance to go out 'til late and party as we have two young kids. Fairly sure the buses run late, early hours of the morning say 2am then start up again around 6 am. Price is cheap, I'd guess no more than $10 each way. Maybe try posting in the Living in Cancun forum for more accurate info.
