We are in the same boat. We are trying to decide between Cabo and Cancun as well for Oct 26 - Nov 2. Our anniversary is late October and Liz' birthday is in November. Let us know which you way you are leaning.

    thanks,
    CnL

    Cabo!

Cabo is fantastic and if you haven't tried it yet, you will be VERY pleased! Here is the report I wrote for Trip Advisor when we got back from our first trip:

    Hmmmm…..where do I begin….

    Here's a run-down of things that were good/bad...

Pool & Hot tub: Very nice and big. Love the swim-up bar! Didn't like that they didn't have Crown Royal Whiskey in the all-inclusive for my husband but he made do with C&C. The pool was FABULOUS and we spent 80% of our vaca just relaxing in the pool beds, soaking in the sun, and enjoying the poolside music & activities. Beware though, because the pool got WAY TOO HOT by the afternoon and was called the "hot tub" by the end of the night! The actual hot tub upstairs, (which was a 40 Person Hottub!!!) was beautiful and romantic but also very hot! It was nice to go up there at night and hear the crashing waves against the beach, while you soaked by the candlelight and by the firepits that were lit to set the mood. As a warning though, be careful of the ledge in the hot tub in the "dark side" of the hot tub…my husband and I killed our shins like 40 times cuz you just can't see anything over there in the dark. It was definitely romantic to hear the waves crashing against the beach at night, but I just wish they'd turn down the heat to less then 100 degrees! (not kidding)

Food: Breakfast buffet was great, easy, and quick. Omlettes made-to-order! The pool area lunch buffet was also quick, easy & good. Dinner, well, this was a
little rough some nights. The food was good, but it did take
extremely long to get, especially during a week with low capacity. We also were frustrated that a lot of the wait staff didn't speak
English, and if they didn't, they would answer "Yes" and then never come back. We just wish they'd ask for help or ask us to repeat ourselves. My husband and I are extremely laid back, but when it came to waiting 30-40 minutes for a cup of coffee at the end of dinner, it just bummed us out and we often just said forget it and went to the
    bar.

Staff: The staff was very friendly. Rocio was only there for ½ of our
stay but she makes the whole staff! She is the best and so funny and sexy all in one. The other staff members like Javier, Charley & Giovanni are very nice and fun too.

Disco: Loved the décor and seating. Miriam was a fabulous waitress with some great dance moves! The DJ played a lot of the same music, but when a request was made, he played it right away, so that was good! I danced my booty off and at times was the only on dancing, but nonetheless, it was fun. I do wish people would dance and participate more though, but I guess it was just the crowd.

Packing: My husband and I packed one bag too many, but we were glad we had our options in the end because you never know how you will feel until you get there. Make sure to bring good suntan lotion that is waterproof since you spend like 5-7 hours in the pool! A hat is a
    good idea too!

The People: We met some FABULOUS people while were there! The people really made the trip for us and we were lucky to meet some really fun and nice people and have still been friends with them since. The OUT-GOING and LAID-BACK MENTALITY was awesome! I wish people were like that all the time!

My husband and I truly LOVED our vacation and have decided it was one of the most relaxing vaca's we have taken in a very long time. We did have some things we would have changed, but nothing that would make or break the trip for us at all. We just know now what to expect and
what to plan for. But we both DEFINITELY decided that the next time we go, we want to plan to go with a couple of friends or group of people made up of friend or new friends we just met because it would be just that much more fun!

    Cheers!

Kd we have to agree with everything that you said about Cabo. On our two trips we had such a good time that it was hard to leave. We spent most the day in the pool by the bar then at 4pm up to the spa. All the staff when we were there spoke english and leaving a tip after every meal really helped with the service. We also leave the maid a small tip every day and each day we had a new towel figure on our bed. Know that they say no tipping but the staff really enjoys it, not much less then $5.00 each. Of course you can not forget the most inportant staff members of all. the bartenders, we made sure to tip them every day and had fantistic service.
So to answer the question which resort is better, it is what you want. For us we enjoy the smaller resort in Cabo and the more laid back feeling that goes with us.

In doing a general search for Desire Cabo Oct. trip, I find that the lifestyles-friendly travel agents are all about the same price, with the one we use, Dream Pleasure Tours, being a few bucks less @ $265 PER ROOM (about $100 off reg. price) for the "deluxe" room. I would prob. use a local agent if I were you; we're in the OC in CA & DPT is in Long Beach. Right Connections is in LV, don't know much about others, but we've had good service & personal contact with DPT. Booked Naughty in New Orleans with them as well as two lifestyle takeover cruises, one last year & one next year.

Hope to meet you at Desire Cabo during the 10/27-11/1 Halloween week. We've never been to either Desire resort & are anxious to visit the West Coast one. All posts seem to be positive......Hugz, Carol

THANKS so much for such an informative post; we've never been to either Cancun or Cabo Desire & have been debating between Sept. & Oct. trips to Cabo. Seems all our lifestyle vacations are on the East Coast, which is hard on the circadian rhythms & of course more expensive to get there. So after your so complete & positive review, I think we're ready to book the Halloween 10/27-11/1 trip. Wish we didn't have to go to LAX (we're in OC right next to John Wayne airport) to get decent price & schedule for air, but we'll manage. I'm sure we'll meet sometime during the trip--if it were up to us it would be in a puppy pile--we're looking forward to it! Carol (& Bob)
