    Hi all,

We're going to to Temptation in the last week of August for two weeks and would really like to get out and about a bit as well as spend time at the resort - one of the places I've always wanted to see is Chichen Itza.

Is it best to book a tour from the hotel - indeed, do they even offer a service like that? Or is it best to try and book one from the UK before we go?

Also, are there any scuba diving trips that are arranged from the hotel? It's another thing I've never done but really want to try.

EDIT: Just seen the link that the forum software provided in my post! Doh!

The tours to Chichen Itza are very similar in service and transport wherever you book. The only real difference is price.

Cheapest is to book online before you go via someone like me :), next cheapest is to book at the hotel and the most expensive option is to book through your UK tour operator once there. Thomsons/First Choice are more than twice as expensive as booking ahead of time online. Booking online you can cancel or change your date with a phone call the day before. Your tour operator will probably accomodate a cancellation or date change but the hotel are often awkward about making changes.

Re Scuba - ask for Boris at the hotel for a free pool lesson. If you enjoy it and want to try it for real then he'll arrange a dive for you.

Is Boris still there? When we were there last ( Feb 2010 ) he was leaving & they were bringing someone new in. I spent a lot of mornings by the pool having coffee with Boris & discussing world issues & sports. Great guy

Excellent. Is it possible to book through you when we're there? I only ask as I don't have a bank account or credit card so paying for things on-line is tricky. My girlfriend has a simple cash card so that we can draw money out abroad, but can't pay for things with the card.

Pretty sure he was there a few months ago. Maybe he left and came back ?

Yes you can book once there via Internet from the hotel. However, the company I work with do require a small deposit at the time of booking of about $10 per person so that may prove difficult if you dont have a way to pay online via credit/debit card.

I suppose I could get a credit card and then throw it away when I get home ;-)

Thanks for the info - I can't go all that way and not tick off one of my "must sees" whilst I'm there!
