Hi peeps, Myself and 2 mates have just booked 2 weeks in Cancun for Springbreak 2012. We're arriving on the 6th March, we're staying at the Riu Cancun and as its our first time to Mexico and our first ever spring break, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice, recommendations etc Don't worry, we're not typical Brits coming over to shag everything that moves and fight everyone. We're 26, 25 and 21 years of age and we'd just like to know where we can have a good time and a laugh, plus meet new people. Thanks in advance for your comments
Alright mate, I've never been for SB before but I've been to Cancun. Heres a little advice, don't go over expecting it to be Brit-free, because pretty much everyones jumping on the bandwagon. I know of quite a few groups who are going them exact weeks (including myself), everybody seems to think they will be the only group of Brits there, it just isn't like that anymore. The Riu is nice by the way, I haven't stayed there but I know people who have. The nightclubs are all-inclusive, normally about $45 dollars for the whole night, so its not like your average European resort. In fact, It's completely different to the likes of your Ibizas, Magaluffs in so many ways I couldn't even begin to list them ha. You will love it thought I much prefer Mexico to anywhere I've been in the world, Cancun is like paradise, literally (although if your after culture and what not, you will be dissapointed, very commercialised) Although somehow I doubt your making the 11 hour trip for cultural reasons... haha. Oh and don't all go out in matching football kits...
Haha no danger of that mate, I support United, one mate is City and the other is Chelsea. Does it attract trouble or something? Is it crawling with Brits or what?
Hi Ash, i stayed in the RIU this year and it's a prime location for all the nightlife. Il be going back next year for the 5th time staying in the same place, me and my girlfriend fly out on the 21st March. If you guys like partying, cancun is well up there with one of the best places to do it. You will have a mixed group of foreign people staying at the RIU. When we stayed it was mainly american people.
me and my friend are going over for spring break too, we cant decide what hotel and at which point were going... is there a rough idea on how much it costs, we would be flying out from manchester, uk??
Hey i'm looking into RIU hotels and i'm seeing Caribe, RIU Cancun and Las Americas! Which of these are in the best location for SB? They all look pretty sweet! Also i'm seeing these hotels are all inclusive, does that generally mean that are really strict at times like SB about bringing people back to the hotel?
Aaaaah damn, im out hahahaha jk welcome to the boards!!!!!! ATCO, most of what you said is true, great contribution to the thread, except for this part, in which in a way you are correct too. I am 100% mexican, born and raised, i am lucky enough right now to live in Cancun, and i originally thought it was all about partying (which it is, everyone here how i work and party all day during spring break lol) but there are a lot of things to to... tons of ruins and mayan culture stuff to see, less than 3 hours away, if you wanted it, you could go, the thing is, people dont really want that... not all of them, not on spring break anyway. Yes, Cancun is nothing like the rest of Mexico, it is really "Americanized"... i love living here hahaha Yay Im a manu fan! go Chicharito! Riu Caribe, is way too far from all the action, RIU Cancun and Las Americas are next to each other, a good 5 or 10 minute walk to the clubs... RIU Palace Las Americas is quite impressive, its the big white building in front of Plaza Caracol... lovely building... And yes of course sneaking people in is a big issue during spring break, but theres always the bribing or paying for night passes, thats what ive heard :anon:
Hello all, Me and 3 friends ( from Holland ) are coming to cancun in March ( 2 till 11 ). We are staying in the Gran Caribe AI.
