Any have any favs when it comes to buying trip cancellation insurance from an independent company. Thanks
In my experience TI is a waste of money. Just because you pay for it does not mean it will actually pay out of something happens. I speak from experience.
We don't buy trip insurance but in September we do buy hurricane insurance. On other trips we don't as we usually go in April. We had one trip a few May's ago that we did not have trip insurance and the whole swine flu thing happened. We were worried but because canada cancelled all flights out to mexico we were covered anyway.
We usually book through Apple Vacations and if we book well in advance we purchase their basic insurance. It is generally about $100
It's all about your situation. True, just because you buy TI doesn't mean it will pay in full BUT in my situation, my job could take me to the middle of Texas with barely any notice, if your situation is similiar, buy it. An extra 100 bucks .... really isn't that much. Ps- we booked through hotwire
If we book months in advance, we usually do too- Another $100 shouldn't kill you!! No pun intended! LOL
We use the travel guard insurance through the airlines. The last 2 trips (not to TTR) we had to file claims and they paid fully and within a month. One was for ER expenses with the grand daughter, and the other was with an emergency with my Mom.
some premium credit cards give you free travel insurance medical some banks have policies that cover you for a year for almost the same price. Note that all policies have a pre-existing clause in them. It can cost $100,000 for medical transport back to your country. Its cheap insurance.
