electrical goods??

    Hi all staying at temp in aug and was wondering if any fellow uk residents have had any trouble with electrical appliences? my dryer and straightners are both 220 - 240 volts? and honest opinion ladies - whats the hairdryer in the room like?? thank u! :)

    volts are 110/120--- the same as in the us. hair dyers are ok but we always bring our owm

    The hair dryers are the cheap ones attached to the walls. Mine actually caught fire for a brief second last year on my first visit..HA luckily I brought mine from home which is what I would recommend.

    the ones on the wall are ok but sound like a jet plane taking off.
    If its a real concern stop to wallmart on the way to the hotel and pick up a cheap one.
    only 110 in the room

    convertors will NOT work for a hairdryer, too many watts

    Only electrical things I'm bringing use AA batteries ... and go HMMMMMMMM. :)

    Look at all my thick hair in my profile pic that was taken at Patty o's and I have to say the hairdryer in the room did a decent enough job for me!

    I got caught out with this on my first trip to Mexico. Your straightners won't work unless they are dual voltage. I invested in a set this year. As for your hair dryer, for some reason my UK 240V one worked in Mexico so will bring it again this year and hope for the best!

    thanks everyone! I have Diana Ross curls which are pretty hard to tame :aktion060:


    so i think ill be purchasing a dryer when i arrive!! :D
