A year and a half ago, it was fairly slow. I had my wife's Blackberry in hopes of making WiFi calls with it...and couldn't get a decent enough connection. Skype works just fine though.
we had no problem using the wifi and it wasnt slow we were roomed over by the sexy pool.. they also have computers in the lobby you can use for $5 for a half an hour.. the best way to do the wifi would be to find a few other people that want it as well and all split the cost seeing you can use the password on as many computers as you want.. $15 a day is expensive in my opinion..
Well as of last week it was weak in the 2000 building, ok in the buffet, great in the hallway seating areas near the lobby. Weak is being generous when talking about wifi in our room (2115). Often we could not connect or it would drop signal. And when connected speeds were marginal at best. So is 15$ a day worth it...not unless you must have wifi and can put up with poor signals. We Skype with our 5 year old when we visit TTR. As noted above, the lobby computers for 5$ an hour are a good alternative and I noticed this trip that they have webcams on them now, a nice touch. Also for those with iPads and wifi on their smart phones the wifi worked for me the same as described above. Jeff n Jill
Video Calling with Skype on iPad2 We've been following this thread because we too want to use Video Calling with our son back home. We plan to use Skype on our iPad2. It's nice to know that the lobby computers have webcams so we can go there as a fail safe. Do these computers have Skype installed? Also, most important question... Does anyone else know of a good group of rooms or specifically a room number that has a good connection. Maybe knowing where the access point is would help out a lot, then we can request a room close to it for a stronger signal.
Francisco told me the 5000 block had poor access. I think we need to find a company to buy a sim card for a month... I have spent over 800.00 (my internet radio recharged all night) in two trips on internet and I am not happy Pa
We're there now and the 2000 block is pretty lousy. Bianca was hoping to do some live webcam shows from our room while we were here but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
Too bad you guys are in cancun, we would of loved to meet up with you for a show! We'll be in Cabo tomorrow.
