Just looking for other people's input/opinions here.. Most of you will think I'm crazy (Or brilliant..lol) but normally I only arrive with my carry on bag. (I should mention that I travel solo, usually meeting up with friends once I get there.) The first time I went (When it was BBG, prior to that bitch Wilma) I took WAAAAAY too much crap. a carry on and 2 suitcases. I didn't even consider more than half of what I brought. However, the last 3 trips, I took only what I could carry in my hand luggage. Both options have some benefits and drawbacks. Taking at least 1 big suitcase means that I can obviously take more clothes and be prepared to go out on the town if I want. (I usually prefer just hanging out at the resort) I did miss out on a group dinner last time because I didn't have the appropriate clothing options (And wasn't about to go buy anything) and it also allows you to pack more personal items, like sunscreen, which I have a habit of running out of. Having luggage also delays you at the airport. OK, it's not by much, but by we all know that by the time you hit the green/red light, you're ready to start partying. However, taking only a carry-on has its advantages as well. Obviously I don't have to worry about getting my luggage or having it potentially get lost. Technically you're only allowed to take 1 small baggie of liquids, but I've never had a problem when I took more. It also saves $15-25 each way.. I'm leaving 8 weeks from tomorrow.. Trying to decide which option to go with..
I guess being a lady, only taking a carry on is NOT an option. I need way too much stuff and I'm truly not a high maintenance person. I've travelled 4 times to Mexico and once to Cuba, never having a problem. I always put clothes, swim suits and sandals in my carry on, so I wouldn't be stuck...just in case my luggage does get lost. Hope this helps
We each usually just take a carryon. I know girls wonder how she dresses so nice with such a small bag but her outfits are really small.
Our last several trips we both have done just the carry on thing.......What a huge time saver at the airport. We see people waiting on their luggage as we are heading for our taxi...... With practice you can still get alot in a nice carry on and also they do have laundry service at the resort....... The main drawback is it limits her on shoes.......and she loves shoes..........
Yes, they all love shoes but my wife loves packing light more than shoes. She chooses a few colors that will do.
I'm surprised how many others do this. I think I'll continue making this my "regular" way to go (Assuming I am solo, I'd never expect a woman to pack so light.. ) but I'm thinking I might spend a night or 2 outside the resort.
I've started packing, and it cracks me up that I'm bringing about twice as much to TTR where you don't have to wear much than I have to any other resort! Theme night wear, sexy heels, gallons of sunscreen for the bits that have never seen daylight....
3 times to Mexico and we each bring only a carry on. Yes that includes the mrs. A little thought and preparation and it can be done, Temptation cloths are small, As matter of fact I usually pack her swimsuits in my jeans pocket. Saves money and a ton of time at the airport.
when we just went we each had a large suitcase that we checked and our carry-ons.. now I know I will never be able to go on a week long vacation without checking a bag however I do know I dont need to bring as much as I did that last time... I really only wore a few dresses, tube tops, shorts and bikinis.. and I can cut out at least 2 pairs of shoes.. I definitely over packed... now we went through almost a whole bottle of sunscreen while we were there so I dont know how you'd pack that in a carry on..
about the sunscreen thing, you can have all the liquids you want in your carry on as long as they are in individual 3 oz containers in a quart bag, so we each have 3 individual bottles of sunscreen in our bag and still have room for a few other liquids, hair spray, ect. We did 6 days this last trip, apply sunscreen heavily, and did not run out.
