    Golden Parnassus vs Temptations

Beach, Beach Walking - No comparison GP hands down. If you are strickly a beach person it is GP ALL the WAY
Pool - If you are a pool person and like to Party, Temptations ALL the way -- the atmosphere at T's pool is different than anywhere else + it has SWIM UP BARs at both pools (not the case at GP). There are aspects of GPs pool that we DID like... e.g. zero edge looking at the ocean. Large hot tub (again looking at the ocean)... I did think the pool was larger in person at GP than what I saw on the pictures (just my opinion) We also would take T's quiet pool anywhere within Cancun (some days you need that get away from everyone/everything & chill)
People meeting - Good at both places, people are people - give them a drink, music, and a mouth and you can meet GREAT people anywhere. We did have fun playing tequila vball at GP (more folks involved in it with the size of the volleyball pool area). T's was a separate pool and small.
People watching - Temptations (look down at exhibitionism)... face more folks were at T than at GP (but could have been the time period also - last year we went to T over July 4th, and we just got back from GP)
Bartenders are awesome at both places (my wife and I did miss 'LuLu' at the Quiet pool) These guys/gals work there ASS off and not only remember your name but exactly how much alcohol you like in those big ass cups @ both places.
Theme nights - Temptations easily (you can not beat lingerie night and Tempt's own dance night) As an example GP's Casino night was horribly lame, the Michael Jackson show was ok, Elvis we did not go see and we were unable to compare
Temptation's 4th of July BBQ vs GP's BBQ party night (cuz it was rained out). Though I have to say, we did have GP's BBQ that night and it was absolutely the WORST food I've ever eaten in Cancun (8 trips now) -- It really was 'bad'- morale of the
story, do not try food that you know is better in your home state or that you can cook better with your eyes closed.
Dinner Reservation System - GP easily (There is NOT one... no worrying about getting a reservation, worries about switching places at the last second or having to 'tip' el capitan to get into a place)
Restaurants - T's Italian Restaurant (Piacere?) is Number 1, Shangri-La at GP was next but the Mayan Coffee at T's Italian restaurant makes the dining experience over the top. Buffet - seen one, seen them all (no real difference here for either breakfast or lunch). Breakfast both places, omelette/egg station, pancake/waffle stations,+ all the normal fruits, mexican breakfast fare, cereal, bread, etc... We did not go to the Japanese restaurant at 'either place' so sorry I can not give a comparison against each other. Someone else can step in here. Rational here is that the wife and I like unique sushi (e.g. snow crab, yellowtail, red snapper) and are not into the 'normal' california roll, tuna, salmon.... GP's Old Barn was good because we did like everyone said and had the Filet - I will tell you that both T & GP cooks have this problem of medium-rare coming out as 'medium'... we now order steaks rare in Mexico. FYI - we loved Luisa at GP's hamburger sweat place (that poor lady is working in 120 degree heat) and SMILED the whole damn time!!!
Night bar: Temp. Pady-O vs GP Tiki Bar --> this is where subjectiveness really comes into play. We personally liked the idea of rotating ipods for music and not the dj sound (music is a VERY personal subject) as well I preferred sitting and watching the cruise ships go by, seeing the waves, etc... while drinking and socializing... But Pady-Os is more expansive (e.g. the Tiki 'Hut' is very small and quant) - maximum ~ 18 seats. I give edge to Tiki Bar.
Toplessness/Exhibitionism - As if everyone did not know this - Temptations EASILY. My wife did go topless at GP 2 of the days as well wore a thong one day (She only did Topless at the Beach but obviously Thong was pool and beach) 1 of our 4 full days there it rained (so throw that day out).... We did see one other lady in a tini-kini/topless and one other topless at the pool. If at temptations my wife would have done allot more like the natives topless/thong all day anywhere (fyi my wife does NOT have fake boobs but looks great for 39). BTW - there is good and bad to this topless/thong (not just women FYI) thing. I believe we saw allot more beautiful people at T's but we also saw allot more 'train' wrecks...
Room - Bed (Temptations was more comfortable and GPs King was 'short' - btw I am short myself and toes were at the end of the bed); View from room (GP big advantage) Lighting (sucked at GP but it really was not a HUGE issue - I do think
it is because they use those 20w save energy bulbs) Shower size - I forget now how big T's is but I'm thinking GPs was bigger (big shower is a perk). TV - Temptations hands down (free porno is always a +) Room Decor - Temptations is more modern/upbeat (GPs is old and drab) Drawer space - Temptations, GP had none (we lived out of our suitcase and that is NOT normal for us)
Closeness to Boob's Cruise - Temptations...hands down!!! Getting on a bus or in a taxi after a Steve's event is NEVER good.
Entertainment Staff - I really give this a wash, both places do a great job of sticking with the agenda and having 'things' to do for everyone. I do think GP's staff is less into going around and 'convincing' folks to play in a game. Both have young energetic, well spoken folks that are outgoing and talk to guests as much as possible.

NP... yeah my wife and I laughed the 1st day we went to Temptations we walk right over to the sexy pool and proceeded to see a lady being helped by EMTs due to what I assume dehydration/drunkiness with a one piece on that was pulled down to her waste (not very good friends if you ask me).. then 30 minutes later we see what we had hoped was 'not a lady from Texas' that was proceeding to play with her chichis to the point of putting them in her mouth.... We looked at each other and said welcome to party scene

Thank you for all this information, i went to Temptation 2 times and i really enjoy the atmosphere but we book at the golden parnassus for the beach. Is it possible to get some fun at night at this place or do we have to go out.

Perfect, thanks. We agree with everything that you said. I would give the bartenders at the GP the nod.

We have the same question as Petitesirene - is there a 'party' at GP at night or are we going to have to go find one? I know, I know, it depends on who is there and we could always start our own party!!! lol
    Any insight would be appreciated

funlovin... In our 4 or more visits to the GP, (a few more to TTR) the party really did depend on the crowd. Our first vist to GP made TTR look like a kiddy park. The other vists to the GP have had a few wild nights at the tiki bar but some of the other nights were a bit boring.

If you meet partying people during the day, I think the tiki bar is the best place to socialize and have a great party. They let you bring your own music.

TTR is guaranteed party but it is a much larger party. We are still deciding where to go this year. The deciding factor will be to see how the entertainment stagff is w/o Chinos. We will probably go the first week of March, so we have a little time to decide.

Last year we stayed at the GP and we still went on Steve's cruise. However, only being able to party with the TTR for one day was a bit of a letdown.

Good luck and the above opinions are very accurate.
