Can I fish from the beach? Do I need a license for that? What kind of fish can be caught from the beach and how do you catch them? I'm thinking light rod 7-8 ft. with plastics and 3/8 or 1/2 oz jigs or bottom rig baited with shrimp but I really don't know what works down there. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I may be wrong but I think fishing from the beach is prohibited due to the National Park status. I have seen a very few people fishing from the beach but I think they weren't exactly legal. People fish in the lagoon and from bridges all the time, so maybe they have a different status.

The ocean in many places is shallow for a long way out so even with a 200 yard cast you're likely to drop your bait in not much more than 5 feet of water.

The shallow water can be good for some fish but it sounds like a boat charter is the way to go. 200 yard cast?...I'm still working on that one.

I have thought about using a potato gun type device for that but figure it would burn the line.
