Jamie, I assume you were referring to my post except for the Kirk part – wrong syfy show and I think I referred to them as prison guards. LOL I think we are actually talking about the thing just looking at it from a little different point of view. If it wasn’t for repeat customers, I would be out of a job and living on the street. Therefore I will always lean toward repeaters rather than first timer point of views and think the management should as well. I don’t think I have seen a single repeat offender likes the way the hotel has changed. I am not saying it needs to be the same as our first trip but come on. It ain’t a pendulum-it’s a clock hand in fast forward. To clarify, I don’t think slowing the “pendulum” down is too much to ask for from any business. I work hard for my money and the vacations that I take. Knowing what to expect while we are there is a valid request. So yes, they need to figure out the RCI/management/security/etc…. issues. Did I have a good time – Yes I did. However it could have been better, really miss the wacky/teasing/etc. times and all the other crazy games/events. I have no problem walking around the resort with crap all over me holding a LOOSER sign. That is how I got the nickname brother blueballs and I really wanted to dump that cooler of ice on you. :icon_razz::icon_razz: By the way, don’t think I ever posting anything about tearing the place down or having a problem with rules. I never had a problem following the rules if I know what they are. Did I post I was going to cut loose – My liver says yes. Just had a good thought – get security to walk the resort like they did in the past and hire a few bar bouncer from the south. They know how to handle unruly patrons without interfering with everybody else. As for April of West Texas, I agree 110%. Harassing the ladies is not and has never been acceptable. That is the job security should be doing and the hotel should not have the policy that throws everybody out including the ones defending their better halves. But hey, just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions. In summary, I have heard that TTR is changing due to complaints about the wild stuff and think it is time we voice our opinions. You said we were in the minority but it only because the majority usually just sits back and takes it up the wazoo. I can only hope they listen before the wheel chair races get started. Can we start a Cancun version of the Tea Party. Edit - just saw the post by April about prudes. A song comes to mind - if you don't like what you see here get the funk out.
The resort never actually restricted the clothes. One of the Premier guys just gave us a heads up that there were complaints, but the hotel did not say anything. He actually came to the beach to tell us and mentioned that the complaints from those that he called 'prudes' were way more than people like us. So we did complain and then when we left we filled up an additional sheet. Not sure but we think another Premier member was the cause. Probably just an isolated deal, but the guests are def changing.
Hi Sheila, Thanks for the message your a very nice person and I wish I had more time to get to know you.I have experienced tuff times in my life and I'm sure with the help of your great friends you will get through yours. I hope your 2 lady friends were't too hard on the young english lads, lol. Ken
It is sad that the "prudes" seem to have a louder voice - seems they away have and always will. I also filled up the whole page on the survey. I can only hope enuf people like ourselves start to speak up before it is too late.:icon_frown::icon_frown: One of the ladies in our group was also approached about her low cut dress flashing people one night after spending the whole day topless at the pool. Maybe they need to paint a line across the resort labeled wild side/mild side with arrows to point the way.
I believe the increased security was just the symptom, not the disease. Evidently the original guy who founded the resort is pulling back and his second wife and/or daughters have decided to steer the resort in a more conservative direction. We've seen this gradually happen over the past several years. Over a year ago, the nighttime activities (other than lingerie night) had been tamed down or eliminated (think Anything Goes, Legs contests, kissing contests). Guests started organizing their own nights, and the resort started trying to censor those they found too risque, and they're striving for more conservative dress in the evenings. And now the daytime games (what few remain) have been "toned down". Jamie is of course right in that it's still a great place; because of the other guests and the staff. Did we enjoy our trip in May? Absolutely. But where is it headed? And why can't the resort tell us? West Texas's trip report shed a lot of light on the issue. But I think it's a shame the resort can't just come out and say, "here's where we want to go". We, as repeat guests, have to try to piece together what's going on from what other guests report. I'd just love to see a real answer from the resort, rather than something that looks it was cut and pasted from a marketing brochure. It appears we just have to wait and see what transpires. Normally we'd be looking to book a trip in October about now. I understand that we have to take our chances with hurricanes; weather is a crapshoot (but other than 2005, we've been lucky in October weatherwise). But I don't feel we should have to hope for the best with security and enforcement of rules; tell us what the rules are and what they'll be. I'm not into breaking rules or pushing the limits. If we go again in October, I believe it's reasonable to expect to know what the rules will be and not have to hope for the best. Reading between the lines, I believe the resort is trying to appeal to a more general audience. Whether they can draw in the more conservative type guest while keeping all their repeaters is an open question; I kind of doubt it, but it's their resort and their option. A few years ago we were involved in a wedding at the Moon Palace. Yeah, it's a 5 star and was real nice, but it wasn't fun and, other than the guests we knew, no one intermingled. No partying, nothing. (And they had a "no topless" sign by the pools.) But of the 20 people there we knew, only maybe 4 would like TTR. The rest are the generic tourist that TTR now seems to want to compete for. Trouble is, most of the other guests at this wedding were the snooty type who want super fancy, and truth be told, if TTR pulls them in, I don't really want to be at TTR. Because they'd be replacing the fun group TTR has always drawn with our normal dud relatives.
Right on Steve!! We're keeping an open mind on this issue too. Just going to wait to see what transpires over the next couple of months before we really start price shopping. Should be interesting, because if they eliminate too much of the party atmosphere that we're all used to, we're done with it and as far a TTR Cabos goes, it's cost prohibitive from here. PS: Say Hi to Marilyn for us - miss U guys!!
Have to agree with you Steve. Been to those 5 star places where everybody looks down their nose at ya. Not a place I want to spend my time. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
Yeah Woody & Derek, but it is their resort. They can go in whatever direction they choose. I personally don't believe they can mix their original fun loving, open minded clientele with the more prudish, what I call Hilton types. But I may be wrong. However, if they steer it in too conservative a direction, we will likely go elsewhere, or certainly not go to TTR as often or for as long a trip. I'd hate to book 10 or 12 days and find they'd gone much more conservative. Marilyn has 1 sister who, while nice enough (I'm being charitable here), isn't someone we'd want to vacation with. And I know she & her husband wouldn't be happy anyplace we liked. They're way more high class than we are. But we sure have a hell of a lot more fun!
