Jamie way to post man! Remember the back lash a few Years ago when they wouldn't fill the u bring bubba kegs. Jeez the resort was going to fold and we were all supposed to boycott. All things said there is a lot more to a holiday than NTVB. Will we miss it sure but the place is a damn sight more energetic than 3/4 of Cancun put together. For those new to the board by 10 o'clock at nite you HAD to leave the resort for fun. Now there seems to be many improvements in evening entertainment. I also expect that there will be a slow gradual return to many of the favorite things over time.
I love this board. It allows people to express their opinions. I'm going to have to do the same thing Jamie and pull away for a while. I have to go and practice building paper airplanes for my next trip to TTR.
ps This was in January 2011. He challenged the Miss TTR iron women and lost He couldn't sit for the rest of his stay.
Take care. I see absolutely nothing wrong with people discussing the bad with the good. If you're so emotionally involved....that people discussing a resort...in another country...."gets to you"....then maybe you do need a break from the forums. No offense intended, trust me. I just can't for the life of me understand how people get so involved (one way or the other) with an inanimate entity.

no offence either, but i think was Jamie was trying to convey was that for those of us who have been going for years (may was our 14th trip) that some times it gets to us that people that have been once or twice (or never been) post such negativity about our beloved resort. and yes we do get "emotionally involved as we do go a couple of times a year and we have met many people there who will be lifelong friends as well as just vacation friends that i will only see once a year. (as well as we count a lot of the employees as friends.) this year when someone here at home asked if we were going on vaction with anyone my answer was " yes we are going with about 40 of my friends":lotsofmichaelfs: Are thing different now? Yes, they are. Did we have fun? hell yes!! was i concerned after reading the april posts? yes. so much so if i hadnt known better i might have cancelled/or booked elsewhere. not that jamie EVER needs to explain one of his posts, i had to express MY opinion. Fair enough. At least you're honest. We'll have to agree that I don't understand the connection (to the resort). If you owned it.......sure. Either way, no big deal. Let me ask you a question, though. Is a 1st timer's trip report (that includes their criticism of the resort some interpret as "negativity") valid? I said it a long time ago....no one person or group determines the fun (or any other) "standard". The answer, of course, is......it's absolutely valid. They experienced it. We've been to Desire several times. We love it, there. We've had nothing but great experience with staff & other patrons (never even witnessed a hint of disrespect towards anyone). But, if someone told me they did, it wouldn't bother me in the least. Now, an outright falsehood posted about what's "typical" there....and yeah, I "might" reply. Otherwise, I wasn't there. I don't know. I kinda figure if multiple people post about it......there's some fire under that smoke. So...the concerns were valid...but, you still had fun. That's what we're hoping for....and expecting.

That's just it, Frank. I don't feel ANY way (now)....lol. I was highly concerned when I (and everyone else) was reading the "gestapo" and "chaperone" reports. I won't lie. We're adults. And, we enjoy acting like (and being treated like) adults on vacation. I will post a trip report. And, I hope like hell I can say my fears were unwarranted. I really do. We're going there with no pre-conceived notions towards this line of discussion. If anything, after hearing of the dumb-asses acting like lewd fools around the pool (being disrespectful to the ladies), increased security (to stop THEM) sounds like the right thing. Respect.
