Kim I used to be a two pack a day smoker. I used the patch to quit back then and have been quit for 13 years. I only gained 5 lbs when I did quit but like you I worried about that because that is what everyone expects. When I quit I started working out and I avoided sitting at the table and things that made me want to smoke. I even avoid situations with friends while they were smokers in the beginning. You can do it and you will feel great when you do. I am not gonna say that is it easy though. 13 years later I still have cravings. Not alot but still there. Most of my weight I carried back then I gained being a smoker that was sendentary. I evenually lost 80lbs and now I am just stuggling with a gain of 30 or so back.
Deb, Just saying I have mashed potatoes all the time. Everything can be part of a diet, just need portion control. Love them. I think I am finally recovered from Cancun. Still have a little bit of a cold though so give or take another week maybe. I am down 1lb today. Down three since getting back. My tan is fading away fast too.
Well I'm still at my same weight as I was when we headed for Cancun.. not that its anything to brag about... I've got about 20 or more lbs to go.. So starting tomorrow!!! I'm back at it.. Hope to keep really busy this weekend, yard work... quit smoking date it tomorrow.. And sorry Kim... I had dill pickle chips last night and I know we agreed no more bad carbs... I'm getting back at it tomorrow. I feel bad, just so you know LOL
well you should feel bad .. haha JK.. I am still up 5 Lbs lol I was good last night .. I also bought my last pack of smokes and am reading the Allan Carr stop smoking book.. I am gonna try this method first before I dive into the Antidepressants.. you should check into this book as well.. its good reading if nothing else and will keep you focused..
I think that is the book I was telling you about, I've read it, going to read it again. My sister used it and she had to read it 3 times and she hasn't smoked I think around 3 or 4 years now. Glad to hear your going to try that first, use drugs as a last resort. I quit taking that dam prozac 3rd day at Temptations.. don't think it was doing me any favors.... I'm feeling much better now.... LOL
Deb I wish I could do that and come home the same weight. It has never happened and I have to fight like hell to take off the weight. My blood sugar is so out of wack there that I become a fat magnet. Carb loading and needing nutrition so bad. I ate salad, fish and veggies alot and it didn't matter. I did have some burgers too. Chalk that up with lack of sleep and I gain 5 lbs to 10 lbs depending on how long I am there.
Monique.. Most of that is fluid I bet.. I get a water pill from the doc before I go and staet it a few days before I leave and every day while i am there...because if I didnt I wouldnt be able to get my flip flops on.. not sure what happens to me down there but its really bad.. I came back 10 lbs up one trip.. and by the end of the first week or so at home I finally found my ankles.. I dont take water pills as a norm only on holidays in Mexico..
yeah!! i am glad to hear you are off the damn pills.. you are not a depressed person.. lol and yes I think it is the same book... only this one has a CD with it to listen to after the book.. so here's hoping
Nah I can see the flab and the differences. I almost never lose it even six months later with serious training and diet. I am working like hell right now and I am down three but it's not without work. I kinda think it all booze and a combination of lack of sleep or rest. Sleeping 26 hours in 9 days just doesn't help but I take that chair bitch and workout seriously. Imagine what it would be if I didn't work out daily and sweet of a gallon of water.
