Hmmm... I emailed the resort and received a letter back from the general manager stating that there were no problems at the hotel and they follow all HACCP laws. They admitted to nothing. Of course you are back home and want you to come back as where I leave tomorrow and they probably don't want to scare me away.

    Dear guest,

In relation to your kind query, I would like to clarify that nothing is going around our hotel. Please be sure that all our staff strictly work under the highest hygiene standards and follow the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) procedures in order to identify food safety hazards. Some sicknesses are caused by weather variations we are encountering nowadays throughout the Mexican Republic , which can cause allergic reactions for those people who have a different diet. Please do not hesitate to come with us and enjoy a wonderful stay.

    Sincerely,

I got the same exact response. They must be just cutting and pasting now. I never had an allergic reaction that made me vomit. :)

flat out lies....i went to the front desk after having to go to the hospital. they told me that i was the only one that had complained. i told them they should talk to a few people because it seemed like half of the resort was sick with the same exact symptoms.

This serves as a reminder that many diseases area capable of being transmitted in the swimming pool environment Outbreaks of disease have been associated with pool water contaminated with feces. Cryptosporidium is a bacteria that shows up in human feces and can contaminate pool and spa water.

    DIARRHEA-
If swimmers are ill with diarrhea, the germs that they carry can contaminate the water if they have an "accident" in the pool. On average people have about 0.14 grams of feces on their bottoms which, when "rinsed off" in the pool, can contaminate recreational water. When people are ill with diarrhea, their stool can contain millions of germs.

A child or adult with infectious diarrhea can contaminate pool water even without having an "accident" in the water. Even 2 weeks after a person's diarrhea has stopped, he may still contaminate the water.
    Cryptosporidium
One of the most common illnesses associated with public pools is diarrhea caused by a parasite called Cryptosporidium (crip-toe-spo-RID-ee-um). Cryptosporidium is found in the intestinal tract of infected humans and animals and is transmitted through the ingestion of fecal matter. This becomes a problem when the fecal matter is in the form of watery diarrhea, which rapidly dissipates in a large pool of water and becomes virtually invisible

    Cryptosporidium
    • Major germ that causes outbreaks.
    • Extreme chlorine resistance.
    • Small size.
    • Will challenge even the best equipped and maintained pool
    • FECAL ACCIDENTS (Yeah, like anyone is going to tell you that what they thought was going to be a little fart really was diarrhea!)
      1. CLOSE THE POOL!!
      2. Remove as much feces as possible.
      3. Disinfect: CT value of 9600 (where C= chlorine and T=time)
      4. Monitor hourly.
      5. Recirculate continuously
      6. Low volume: drain & disinfect
      7. Proper pH and chlorine to reopen.
this is what i believe it is....it makes sense cause most people at the resort do hang out at the sexy pool and is the 1 thing most have in common.

I will say this is the first time we have ever had a problem TTR...we love this resort and will be going back, hopefully to a clean pool though.

    Hope this helps..

To this respect I would like to clarify that nothing is going around our hotel and all our staff of chefs and cooks strictly work under the highest hygiene standards of Distintivo ‘H’ which was updated last month. Also, the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) procedures are duly followed by all of our Food and Beverage Department, in order to identify food safety hazards. Some of these kinds of sickness are caused by weather variations we are encountering nowadays throughout the Mexican Republic, which can cause allergic reactions for those people who have a different diet.
