I think Brewster mentioned in another thread that the best exchange rate is actually give by the ATM machine. Use the search function in the banner above and look for the thread. Maybe search exchange rate ATM. Hope that helps.

Here is the thread. Brewster and Dan seem to speak from much experience.
    Canada...Cash...And Cuncun....?

Our friend who set up our trip says he always gets $2 bills to use for tips while in MX. They work cause they are memorable. X rate today is $1 US = 12 pesos.

it makes no sense why after all these years they are asking for canadian money, when we have always changed our money to us before we leave. You could always order it from your bank before you go,bring both us and pesos

Does anyone know if there is an ATM in the airport between arrivals and where you pick up the TTR express?

We are ways use dollars, there is no need to exchange money, unless the pesco is ever low and the dollar is very high. Best excnange rate is at an ATM

best exchange rate might be at ATM, but my the time you factor in the fees that ATM charges, and the fees your own bank charges, I wonder if it is any difference then just exchanging your $USD some place else.

    Anyone know??

Just like anything else do it in bulk. For example get $300 worth of pesos instead of $100 or $50. At a real bank they shouldn't charge you based on the size of the withdrawl only on the transaction at a fixed rate if I remember correctly.
