well thats a very easy statement without an explanation.. I am not an idiot.. I know if I step on the scale I am down in weight that I have lost inches as well .. and even if its not down I could have lost inches..and even if I am up on the scale i could have still lost inches..

maybe negitive reinforcement for some .. maybe if some dont lose wieght on the scale they go and eat three days worth of food at one sitting .. but I use it as a another form of tracking my progress..

God Damit... cant you just agree with me.. hahah!!! JK :aktion051:

Honey, the only people that would say you can sometimes be stubborn are EVERYONE THAT KNOWS YOU!!! LOL

Personally, I don't totally discount the scales. But like the guys are saying it is not the only factor.

It's funny how unreliable a mirror can be too. Many people look in a mirror and only see flaws (I can see all the girls putting their hands up..lol).

We've all seen shows where a young anorexic girl, weighing 90 lbs. sees a fat flabby girl in the mirror.

I think a really good commitment from anyone working on improving their physical appearance is to approach a mirror with this promise:

"For every flaw I see I will also find at least one thing I like"

Think about this. You presumably want to look good so you will have a good feeling about yourself. Looking in a mirror and seeing only flaws is pretty counter-productive to that goal, huh?

So, healthy would be; "Nice, my waist line is improving. Still a little loose in the butt. Think I'll focus a little more on exercises that work that area."

Unhealthy; "What a fat, hopeful pig".."this is never going to work".."..."where's the ice cream?"....

    Be your greatest cheerleader!

Kim, you are a hottie and you are doing great!

Kim what I am trying to say is the scale dominant focus (created by the media) creates havoc with true health! It forces less than healthy eating strategies and redirects some exercise benefit cause the eating to make the scale say the right thing robs you of the nutrients to exercise properly.

All of us put wieght on over months and years but we want it to melt off in days and weeks.

yes I would agree with this with all the FAD diets out there but .. and maybe you are talking about a lot of people that do this..
but I think that in my posts from the beginning I encouraged healthy eating and exercising and that I use the scale as a measurement tool.

what you are saying is that every trainer, every dietition, every doctor and every diet center is wrong.. all scale focused..

Yes but what if you put on 1 lbs of muscle last week n you weigh 1/2 lbs less? that means you woulda loss 1 1/2 of fat. That's my point about the scale n my only point about it. And i was only using Mj as an example cause the muscle she put on makes her look even hotter than she was, not cause she's a size 1

the best way to loose actual fat is weight training.. most likely being a women, you will not bulk up.. if you do mostly cardio, you are burning some fat, and mostly muscle..
