This winter must have been a long one for many areas judging by the amount of bitching and complaining.

I can hold a sophisticated conversation with anyone, on just about anything and I have had some awfully good food, but neither is why my wife and I go to TTR. We go because the people are so accepting and the atmosphere is like a college party for adults sans some clothing. In a nutshell its simply fun and its something we can not do in our small town. Essentially, its a week to cut loose and party.

If your into grazing on fine food, sucking down $300 bottles of wine, seing decrepit piles of stone and other assorted tourist traps TTR might not be the place for you.

I get that some of us are offended with this TR, however eveyone is allowed their point of view, be it negative or positive.
If New York Witty had just said she hated TTR and left it at that, wouldn't we all be saying why, what happened ??? We should respect others views and the time they take to write these reviews, even when we don't agree.
I was glad to see that there were some positive moments and it wasn't all a terrible time for her.

Can't wait to get back to Temptations... See you all there Yipee!!! :huepfen021:

It's not for everybody. I have friend's and family that would be out of place there. I just got back and loved it. I wasn't expecting a 5 star resort and with tits, drinks, music, sun and water I wasn't looking for sophisticated conversation but found conversation with several that was fun. And fun is why I take vacations. I do appreciate your honesty and opinion and I think some prior research would have saved you some misery. The Cancuncare forum is very informative and is just one of many tools to research a place before you visit.

If you have already booked TTR then I urge you to reconsider your perception that newbies are not welcome. That truly is not the case.

Nor are the American's small minded, as well as any of the other nationalities you are likely to meet there.

You will spoil your vacation going with that preconception.

TTR is a unique resort where people from all walks of life can step out of their day to day lives and have a great time together.

You are probably a much nicer guy than your post would lead people to believe. If you arrive with a friendly attitude I'm sure you will get the same back.

    Cheers

To confirm what Brewster said about newbies being welcome. I was a newbie who was there just last week and my perception is that 1st timers are very welcome. In fact, it seemed that the veterans really let new people take the lead and set the pace as it relates to participation in events, contests, etc.
Nobody ever made us feel as though we were outsiders --- we were even brought under the wings of several veterans who gave us great tips about the resort and local area which made our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you veterans, I hope I will be as gracious to the next group of newbies, as you were to us, when we return to TTR.

There is no sense having a long drawn out battle over this trip report. Clearly as the replies and rebuttals have come through they seem to serve as an indication to what I said.

I also believe assumptions were made about the general population on this board when it was referenced that we had to be of a certain mentality to get Chinos.

I know had this individual taken the time to engage Chinos in a conversation that was not related to TTR there would be bad feelings about this inference.

He is actually quite an intelligent man who can be more than helpful with a lot of concerns in the Cancun area. (if you still read the board bud we haven't forgot about your hard candy cravings). I suspect many of the long term repeaters here will agree.

The report would have been well accepted here if it simply stated that it was not a good trip. But once again as I stated, when the plane has hardly done parked and the report is on the board with all it's subtle digs, someone had an axe to grind. As a result the 99% that get it will rally behind the resort.

Greg lives in my area, I have known him for many years... I usually go down around the same time as him so we share a week or at least a few days and we always laugh cuz every pic I have of him down there, he looks absolutely hammered, So thats why I was joking to see if he actually put his drink down long enough to get a coffee.... he is a good guy
