Witty, sadly I think most people are going to disregard your trip report because it comes across as condescending. You mention that most people loved the food, yet it wasn't up to your standards. I live in NY as well and have been to most of the top restaurants. While La Bernardin doesn't have anything to worry about, My wife and I found the food (with the exception of the buffet) to be above average, especially for an all-inclusive.

Your remark about sophisticated conversation also has a condescending tone to it which I didn't care for. I can say with confidence that most of the people I've met at TTR are certainly capable of engaging in a sophisticated chat, but that's exactly what many of us are there to avoid. In my everyday life you'll find me watching Meet the Press and CNN. In TTR I like Channel 12!

I don't harbor any animosity towards you, nor do I wish to engage you further. I just felt the need to defend the resort itself for what it is.

Hmm . . . I had exactly the opposite experience at TTR, so I don't really know what to say. I can see why you might easily drink over your limit, though I really never got hammered the whole time we were there. Perhaps it's because we didn't sit at any of the bars for very long, or perhaps because I drank a lot of the frozen drinks, and it takes me awhile to finish them.

And we found the people to be very friendly. There was not one person who was snobbish or rude to us--even the "hotties", and we are not in that category by any means.

I'm sorry you didn't seem to enjoy yourselves, and hope that your next vacation finds you somewhere that fits your style.

 

Aside from a few snobby hotties we found everyone to be quite friendly.



You have to willingly suspend disbelief to enjoy the pool-side entertainment. We had a good time once we were smashed and stopped paying attention. There is definitely a fun scene at the sexy pool if you look for it. We found Chino's patter to be robotic, as though he's said each line thousands of times and was repeating them whether or not they were contextual. The music is nice, you can hear it softly at the beach and it's louder at the pool. We did not partake of the evening entertainment.

Anybody that tries to have a sophisticated conversation with me would probably get a Bert Stare from me.

I am forced to have sophisticated conversations everyday at work. I go to TTR to get away from them. Besides usually the only one that thinks the conversation is sophisticated is the one doing the talking.

I guess each to there own. Its to bad you didn't enjoy Temptations as much as most of us do. Thank you for taking the time to write.
We all appreciate different things and places. I would imagine you will not be returning. Have fun on your next holiday
