cancuncare/saggy bottom new orleans reunion october 2011

would be an honor to have all of you guys join us and talk about the old blue bay days

a reunion where the saturday parade is going to feature all of us dressed in fairy tale and story book characters marching through a great city partying, having a blast and doing something amazing for the best charity on the planet ------- a charity that (accoring to the their most recent audit in 2010) used 93% of the money they brought in towards granting the wishes of children with life threatening conditions. only 7% went towards administration

its easy to want to be a part of something like this.

while i dont want to turn this thread into a charity thread (will have more information on the event web site in regards to that on monday) its hard not to be excited about OUR reunions association with such an incredible organization..................and the fact that 100 percent of the money received for this year long donation drive will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation

the reunion as a whole is something that all associated in any way with steve's site (cancuncare.com) can be very proud of.

we are all incredibly excited!!!!

oh well we are getting closer - just a couple of more minor issues and that should do it

we did go ahead and notify the host hotel that we have selected them and are just waiting on their final procedures for our group as we will be booking rooms on an individual basis as opposed to a large group basis

they are being very accommodating for our group - and they are not even requiring a contract (keeping my fingers crossed here and i am certainly holding back on naming the hotel until everything is in stone) they are also agreeing to provide at least one free room to our donation contest winner, complimentary usage of arguably the greatest "meet and greet" room not only in new orleans, but perhaps anywhere in the states. They also are offering a few other nice surprises for the parade on saturday.

their rate was a touch high, but certainly manageable and nothing too crazy...........especially considering it is the best hotel in the french quarter, its location is centered directly between perfect and ideal, its the second busiest the time of year for them and their normal rate is considerably higher -

like i said............ its only a little bit higher and with plenty of extra time til the event im sure we can all come up with it

you have hear the saying, "you get what you pay for" correct?

well - normally -

but............in this case............we are going to get a lot more than what we are paying for fer sho

hopefully will have booking procedures and all tomorrow - thanks everyone for your patience.

i will be glad when this part is over - whew!!!

I think any of those whom have been partying in cancun would love new orleans. i like to think of new orleans as a cancun on steroids stuck in a swamp and perfectly content with its lot in life.

i also want to point out the fact (and brag a little bit on cancuncare people too) that - to date we have already raised over 5,100.00 in this year long donation drive for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

This monthly drive will end on september 30 of this year. if you cant make it to new orleans to join all of the cancuncare people going there for this once in a life time massive party ------------but yet you still want to be a part of this incredible weekend then please let us know and will show you how you can be part of it.

ps - please note that we have secured a limited number of rooms for this event and i can assure you they will all be gone - every single room will end up being taken - it is not a matter of if they will all be taken - but when - so if you have plans on going my urgent suggestion would be that you move as quickly as possible and get booked we are currently planning for between 150 to 200 people

 

one more step in the right direction towards new orleans as we ease into spring and start taking off the training wheels on this massive party weekend in new orleans

.........and to be quite honest (even though we are only in march) i am a little bit shocked that we dont already have all the hotel rooms booked out.....with about 100 commitments to date and another 100 "more than likely" these rooms will all be taken guys and we are also expecting upwards of 100 locals now..........

there is no telling how big and fun this will end up being and to be a part of this with all the cancuncare people, friends and family is going to be a life changing event for all of us

again, bring your friends, family and any others you know who fit the bill.

the month of february totals are now in and we (cancuncare/saggy bottom people) have cracked the $10,000.00 mark in charitable giving for the make a wish foundation ytd - this drive ends on september 30th so there is plenty time left to be a part of this (tons of ideas for helping out are on the site in the additional information section)

most importatnly 100% of this money is going directly to the Make-A-WIsh Foundation

i should also point out that that all you see on the site is just the beginning of the party - there is much much more in process and some of things planned are going to be (for lack of a better word) "amazing".

its time to start booking it up guys the rooms are going to go pretty quick from this point forward

The original concept was not this type of format (social networking site) - was more of a informational site - but was taking me forever to get the type of look we were all looking for and was going to cost us money that we all felt would be better served elsewhere.

So we kinda just made this work -

Kirby is still working on finding a way to include the sign up without having the forums - I promised steve that the site would be an information only site and unless Kirby can find a way to incorporate the sign up function without forums - I think it best to leave as is and honor our word with steve
