Hola : I'm getting ready to book my return trip to TTR for the last week of June for 14 days. So far all of the rates that I've gotten are much much more that what I paid last year around the same time and the same number of nights. I've have read that a number of people on this board have used alpharooms.com to book their rooms. From the quote that I got from them they are by faaaaaar the best rate yet. They are quoting me an $800 dollar difference from their nearest competitor, so this makes me get a little suspicious, you know, the "too good to be true" deal. Has anybody had any bad experiences from them? I also noticed that they are in England. Do they also make reservations for you if you live here in the USA? (to be more precise I'm in LA) thanks in advance for your input. Carlos
I live in Oregon and have booked with them twice. No problems as of yet. I always call Temptation (1-877-485-6367) a month before the trip to make sure the resort has my reservation. I got 9 nights in May this year for the two of us for $1280 or 71 dollars a night per person.. Three years ago I got in at 53 dollars a night per person..
thanks Parrothead !! Yup, if I only book the room thru them and the flights separately that is still a HUGE difference from all of the other quotes that I got. Just to give you an example, the quotes that I got from orbitz, expedia, travelocity, cheaptickets, and my own travel agent and a couple of other sites hovered around $3,000 bucks for 14 nights. This quote included the room plus the round trip air fare. I am aware that since I'm going solo I get stuck with the single occupancy surcharge, so there's nothing that I can do about that. The rate that I got from alpharooms along with booking my flights separately was around $2,100. I would say that''s a nice chunk of change !! thanks again......
Alpharooms are a UK based agency and hotel prices from the UK are always cheaper than those in the US and Canada. It's kind of a 'secret loophole' because bookings from the US and Canada are still able to be made even though Alpharooms are primarily aimed at UK clients. I havent checked recently but I know that last time I did Alpharooms calculate their single supplement differently, and it works out much cheaper. There have been many people from the forum who have used alpharooms from outside the UK without problem. If it's going to save you $$$ then go for it! Nothing to lose, plenty to gain.
The only thing to be aware of is that being from the UK, when you go to book your room your USA credit card company might reject the charge. If so, call your CC company and let them know you are making the charge. Alpharooms will try and automatically resubmit the charge for you so you don't have to go through that again. You should receive the first confirmation from them that says you have a reservation but still owe on the room. When they re-submit it, if it goes through, you will get a second note that says you have a reservation and it is paid for. I initially screwed up in making my reservation and after getting the first rejection, and not checking my email, called the CC company and got them to open up the account to accept the charge and then submitted the reservation again. It went through that time and my CC got charged. Alpharooms then saw that a charge got rejected and submitted it again and it went through again. I noticed on my bill that I had two charges. I contacted them through the web site and they checked and refunded one of the charges that day, no problem. They get my vote... Jamie
Alpharooms I have travelled all over the world with them many times including 3 Temptation trips, and yes they have always come up with a great price, I am looking at the price for my regular november trip and they seemed to have had a big price hike, but still cheaper than expedia etc.I pay with a spanish credit card with no problem.artytime:
we have booked with them in the past, just call your credit card company before you book and and it should not get rejected. We are in Virginia.
thanks again, guys !! you are awesome. I will book tonight. the advice about calling my CC company in advance is great !!
