that is awesome Deb, I have heard good things about the 17day diet.. and its all about what works for you... feeling better is the best part.. and isnt it funny how aweful you feel when you have to eating off the plan for a couple days, its a good remeinder of how you used to feel every day.. now if you can get a bit of exercise in .. you will be over the top with feeling good and energy.. you go girl!! congrats
Thanks hon, :daisy:been worried about posting this, last time I mentioned it felt like some people didn't want to hear about it, so kinda stayed away, but when you start feeling really good you want to pass the info on.:icon_biggrin:
exactly.. the only bad part of some of these diets is the word "Diet".. it makes people assume its a starvation diet or some crazy quick weightloss program.. they are not all equal.. even though they say diet.. if your program was called 17dayhealthy eating plan.. then people wanting to loose weight would not look at it .. its all marketing.
Originally, our plan was to go to Cabo in May but now we aren't. Anyway, I kind of started dieting around the same time this thread came up (for the trip) and I follow it along to see how everyone is doing and for recommendations on diet, exercise and motivation. The wife and I then started seriously dieting the beginning of February. I'm down a total of 11 pounds since the first of the year and the wife is down 6. The first 2 weeks I lost 6-7 pounds but now I'm averaging about a pound a week. We also have started working out again, weights and cardio. Our diet has changed so that we don't eat much sweets or fried foods and we are very calorie conscious. I'm trying to maintain a 2000 a day diet and the wife, 1300. If we go over, we try to have the exercise burn the extra calories. I have 7 more pounds to and she has 5. I know Dan keeps talking about how you look and how your clothes fit as opposed to just a desired weight but we've worked out for years and are generally in pretty good shape so we have an idea of what our comfortable and somewhat "ideal" weight should be. Anyway, just thought I'd share and maybe help you guys keep up your motivation as you are helping me with mine. Also, what some of you guys did for Jim (Backs) was incredible. I've never met him but that was very inspring and uplifting.
Thanks for taking the time to write. And thank you for sharing. My stepfather is or was very over weight, to the point he was having a hard time walking. My mom and him are both doing this 17 day diet and he's lost 34 lbs, walking and feeling so much better. She has lost I think she said 12 lbs. They started in Jan. They are starting from the beginning again they want to lose more. They both have been to the doctor and he's gone from 12 pills aday down to 2. and she is off all her medication.
Deb never worry about posting something on here. This is why this site is great. We can all post our different philosophies n opinions. We all don't agree but it's nice to hear what someone else thinks
wow.. I may have to have another look at the 17day diet.. I usually fall back to Jenny because I know it works..and there is no counting calories.. but I have lost 12 pounds in total.. have to say it was coming off faster on my own but a lot more work.. I will go back to eating my own healthy food (not Jenny) after holidays..
