Aimed at members from the UK mostly, the longest flight we have made up to now is 5 hours and TBH we find that fairly tedious. The flight to Cancun from Newcastle via Manchester is 12 hrs 20 mins (a lifetime ) We have booked premium seats with Thomson to give a little more legroom but, how do you survive such a long time sitting in an aircraft seat. We are dreading the journey so any tips would be more than welcome.
If you set your watch to Mexico time, U might find it easier to try to nap during the hours that you might normally do at home while on the plane. We go to New Zealand on occasion, which is a 24 hour (In the air I might add) flight + layovers. We find it really helpful to try and get some shuteye depending on the current time of the place that we're traveling to! Dramamine might help you relax too! Have a safe trip and by all means enjoy TTR!!!
Get up and move around every chance you get.. I've mad the Dallas Texas to Frankfurt Germany a couple of times.. 12 hours of not moving your legs is terrible.
it will be our 4th flight to cancun this year from manchester and we cannot wait. i'm glad you are flying with thomson because the time will pass much quicker than if you had picked thomas cook! we flew thomas cook last year and never again lol. you are in premium so an unlimited supply of booze will be available which also helps and our experience is that the entertainment on thomson flights is usually good, a wide choice of films, tv and games to keep you occupied. i always carry a book in my hand luggage so i can read also. if you are able to sleep then that's a bonus but i never can on planes however tired i am you will be so excited on the flight going out that the time will pass quickly but coming back is another matter. on the flight home i am usually tired and mardy and that flight seems to go on forever! have a great holiday, look forward to hearing about it when you get back as we've got to wait until september for ours elaine :uk1:
longest ive done is 4hrs so not looking forward to it!! iam flying from manchester too. as long as theres beer i'll be fine!! haha andy
if you have an ipod, you can try getting Audio Books. good head phones will drown out the engines. You may also need an aux. power supply which is easily available depending on the battery life of your device ( double aa usb powered outlet)
Good earphones are a must for me, may I suggest these ones. QuietComfort 15 - Noise Cancelling Headphones - Bose Headsets and Headphones It's hard to believe how much noise a jet makes inside the cabin until you cancel it out!
Les takes a sleeping tablet and passes put which is great cos I get his food as well as my own lol. I watch all the films and get hyper excited for hols! The unlimited drink does help lol x We were on there for 14 hours last year cos of the ash cloud!!! Aaaahhhhh Lynfa x
Well, there goes your "Party Animal" reputation Les...lol Seriously, it really is important to get up and stretch your legs on a long flight. If not, your circulation tends to pool in your legs and feet. If you can put your legs up for a while, resting your feet on a carry on bag, that helps too. The noise cancelling headphones is a great idea. I love mine. Joining the "mile high club" can be a pleasant distraction though some airlines take a dim view of the activity and get kinda cranky....lol.
