When I went to TTR last year, I tried to order whiskey drinks the entire trip, and everywhere I did the drink tasted so off. It didn't matter if it was ordered at the pool or at one of the restaurants, the whiskey and coke or whiskey and 7up tasted more like tequila and coke, for example. It was rough. I know it is Mexico and all, but does anyone know if they have any true whiskey like Jack Daniel's, Jim Beam, Seagrams, or heck, even Canadian Mist? Or anything similar that IS whiskey? Last year it seemed they had no idea what the word meant from what I saw. If not, can I buy a bottle of whiskey to have at the sexy pool or Patty O's? -Vince
you can go across the street to the liquor store buy what you want. prices are reasonable, give the bottle to the bar tender and he'll take care of you' easy as 1,2,3 :ernaehrung023:
I allways drink thier Johnny Walker Red on the rocks. It is definitely the real thing and not watered down.
I have heard if you ask for say a whiskey and coke you get crap.. but if you ask by brand.. and they have it they will serve it .. Bruce always asks for captain Morgan and if he forgets its awful...
Part of the problem is that Canadians and Americans disagree about what whiskey is. Canadians like a rye whiskey while American whiskey is something else. So I think they have a hard time figuring out a guy is ordering. Often there are more Canadians at TTR than Americans so assuming the customer is American isn't necessarily the default assumption.
The mixes coke etc are sweeter than in the USA or Canada, different sugar etc. That's probably the biggest factor
They had Johnnie Walker Red last year, plus another decent blended Scotch (can't remember which one). No single malt though :icon_rolleyes::flagscottland:
