While looking up airport transportation, I noticed that USA Transfers will stop at Walmart on the way to the resort if you like. However, it's $30. I know we'll need Sugarfree Rockstars to keep in the room and we might pick up some liquor just to keep in the room. I wonder if the veterans can give some advice here. First, can you get to Walmart by bus? If it's too much of a pain in the ass, we can pay the extra $$ on our way to the resort but I'd rather not if it's not too much of a hassle. Second, what would you do? Most importantly, does anyone know if they have sugarfree rockstars in Mexico? I know I can find them at my local Walmart but not sure if they're available outside the US.

    Thanks!

I don't know about the sugar free Rockstar, but you can easily get to Walmart by bus.

I am pretty sure that Walmart carries the sugar free Rockstars, I have seen people drinking them at nightclubs in town etc if memory serves me right. As far as going to Walmart on your way there or take a bus... depends on how much you want to buy and how important your time is to you.

You can take a bus to get there, take a look in the cancun info forum and you should find instructions on bus travel. It's pretty easy if I remember right. Bussing is cheap but do you want to be fighting 3 or 4 bags on a usually packed city bus or use your transfer / take a cab? Cabs are around $10 each way or so as well.

    hope that helps!

I'd recommend jumping the bus there and then getting a cab back. Just go out the front doors of the resort and don't cross the road. Stay on this side of the street and find a bus stop. Then wait for the bus with the "Walmart" sign. Seriously.

Go buy whatever crap you want then find a cab to get back to the resort. Negotiate your cab fare with the cabbie before you get in the cab. there are no meters. $10 is fair. easier and faster than hauling a bunch of stuff on the bus.

the Cancun busses can actually be fun. i'd recommend learning to use them. Stupidly easy. if you want to go to the heart of the hotel zone and all the bars go across the street to catch the bus. If you want to go to Walmart, stay on the resort side. To go down to the heart of the hotel zone, just jump on any bus. they all go the same route, there's only one street through the hotel zone.

Good to know they at least sell them in Mexico. Hopefully they'll be easy to find at Walmart.

I think that's a good strategy on going to WM on the bus and cabbin it back. I definately don't want lug the bags back on the bus. $10 isn't too bad.

    Thanks for the info!

They seriously just say Walmart? Why can't the buses be that easy here? I don't mind taking the bus at all. It would be cool to take in the culture that way (and cheap, too).

Thanks for helping us map out a strategy! Sounds like this will be cheaper than hitting it up on the way from the airport.

Does anyone know if they sell Bud Light at Wal-Mart? If so, I assume you buy it by the 6 pack, or do they have larger packages? What about hard liquor - such as Grey Goose Vodka?

Walmart has a large selection of beer and liquor. Pretty sure they sell beer buy the case.

Yup, the sign in the front window that says where the bus is going literally will say Walmart. I thought it was hilarious when I first saw it.
