As someone who has been there 7 times we have met some really great people. Our first there i think it took me all of 7 minutes to go topless and each year we go i get self concence and think there is no way i am going topless this year,; but to no avail it doesnt last long and i loose all worries as the friends we have made dont judge me for what i look like but for the fun that we have. This year i have once again joined the gym to shed some weight gain from last year and am getting paranoid about what i look like. I guess what iam trying to say is have no worries once you get there you will forget that it was even a concern. You will meet great people and who knows what will happen after that!!!! no one knows ya, no one gives a shit!
Temptation is what you make of it, really. I've some great friends of different sizes, shapes, races and nationalities. Go with an open mind and you will have a blast.
We aren't exactly small people but hey, we're on a well earned holiday and we will enjoy it come what may. If any small minded folk decide they don't like us just because of our size, well it's their loss
Can I just say I LOVE this thread and it made my day!!! I am the mom of three girls - all different shapes and sizes. And of course growing up I was teased for my body and don't want them having the same body issues. My oldest also has a disability and is bullied every day. If the world were more the like the people on here - it would be a helluva lot better place. Okay - that was mushy. Can I get a HELL YA!!!!! Ha!
Believe me, you're gonna fit right in!!! Not to worry!! Especially if you're going to be there w/ all of us April Addicts!!! :lotsofmichaelfs: As the motto goes, nobody knows you and nobody gives a shit!!
You are going to have a great time, everyone is so nice at Temptations and if they are not most likely they will not be hanging around with anyone because there a jackass!! Also there is nothing sexier than someone comfortable in there own skin regardless of size, shape, etc!! Marc and Diane xo Hell ya!! LOL
I am also not a toothpick and am self concious every year that I go. Last year I went topless and wore a bikini without shorts which was a big accomplishment for me. A friend that I ttravel with is even more self concious than me only wearing one peices even by the sexy pool. Last year she not only wore a bikini with a skirt but went topless on the booze cruise. So as you can see the self conciousness wears off once you realize that you are not being judged!!! Everyone is there for the same reason, TO PARTY!!!!!!! Hope you have a fantastic time and I can't wait to hear your stories when you get back!!!!
I read this thread this morning and it certainly made me smile - not only because of the initial posting, but of all the positive and encouraging responses. I'm a chubbier chick too and I went in December. Don't worry babe, you'll fit right in. Just so you know, I didn't have any problems with flirtations and good times. Go, be yourself, enjoy and take ALL you can out of it. Remember, you only have a week so grab all the ghusto you can while you're there. You WON'T regret it. Best to ya. Cheers!
The greatest thing at TTR is, the "nobody knows you, nobody gives a s**t" slogan really is true. I remember people from our trips based on how friendly they are, how much fun, how open and outgoing they are. Their weight, age, physical appearance don't even factor in to who you want to hang out with at TTR. The only way to look bad at TTR is to walk around with a frown and try to act better than everyone else there. 99% of the guests, especially the repeaters (we've been 9 times) are there because it is about real people, all there to be friendly, let loose, meet like minded folks, and have a fun time. If you read Trip Advisor, you will sometimes see reviews from judgemental people making comments like "there were older/heavier women there who shouldn't have been topless"; but the truth is, those judgemental people were the ones in the wrong resort. We certainly aren't going to let the one or two opinionated jerks ruin our trip to TTR, just because they seem to feel unless you're perfect, you should hide in your room. Bottom line; if you're friendly, and most of all always wear a smile, you'll fit right in; don't worry about your body type, age, whatever. You'll be accepted as you are.
