Last april my wife and i went to a different resort in mexico. The third day in, i started to get the mexican bug(sick). It kindof ruined the last couple of days for me. I know i didn't drink any bad water, or even brush my teeth with tap water. I'm guessing it was from the way some of the food is prepared or made. Did this happen to anyone else that went to TTR. If so, is there an antibiotic that i can get from my doctor before i go, or any other tricks to prevent it from happening again. I tryed all of the tums, and over the counter stuff in mexico, but i couldnt find anything to work.
    Thanks for everyones input.

This will be our 4th trip and we have never gotten sick from the food, or drinking the water in the restraunts.

I know that they use filtered water for everything. We have been there twice and neither of us or anybody in our group has ever gotten sick. But we have had issues at other resorts in Mexico and Cuba. Hope this helps.

The only sick people Ive seen were hung over. Your pretty safe
    at TTR
Any one can get sick any where.
Ive heard eating or drinking Pro-biotic yogurts for a week before you go strengthens your stomach.
A lot of those slushi drinks are sweetened with fectrous or something like that that will upset your stomach if your not used to it.

A Jamaican told me ounce they drink coconut juice/water as a laxative and laughed at the tourist because they get sick after drinking coconuts all day.

There is a preventive medicin called Dukural (Canadian).

There is an oral vaccine now for the travelers bug and a couple strains of cholera. Ducolax is the name. Dose is one drink two weeks before departure and one one week before you go. It lasts two years.

We quit the Dommincan because of how violently ill we would get. Got the vaccine and are two weeks back from a there trip, we even left the resort and ate on the beach which is a travelers no no. Both the wife and I did not have a lick of trouble.

    WARNING!
I did a google search on Ducolax, thinking what a good idea, as I have also been ill when visiting Cuba and the Dom Rep. I have not been too bad at TTR, suffering mostly of over indulgence!!!

    Dulcolax® Tablets

Dulcolax® Tablets are proven to be predictable. This is because they work in two ways, by not only treating constipation, but also letting your body know when it needs to go. They contain bisacodyl which is the active ingredient and are known as a stimulant laxative and work within 6 to 12 hours.
Dulcolax® Tablets work in two ways for predictable relief

Dulcolax® Tablets have a dual action as they work in two ways to relieve constipation. Not only do Dulcolax® Tablets deliver gentle overnight relief from constipation by gently stimulating the muscles of the bowel but Dulcolax® Tablets also let your body know when it needs to go. So they provide a predictable and reliable outcome.
    [IMG]Dulcolax® Tablets Comfort Coating

Dulcolax® Tablets have a special ‘comfort coating’ which ensure that the active ingredient in Dulcolax® Tablets, bisacodyl, is taken to where it needs to act — the colon — for maximum release. The Dulcolax® Comfort Coating is able to resist the acidic digestive juices of the stomach (which break down your food) and the environment of the small intestine, before it reaches the colon. The Dulcolax® Comfort Coating only breaks down when it reaches the alkaline (non-acidic) environment of the colon. Here, in the colon, the colonic juices activate the key ingredient which then relieves your constipation.
