I'm guessing from reading Henry's trip reports that you cant buy grey goose at the corner store, you have to get it prior to cancun?

I'm personally planning to get 2-3 bottles, I think everyone we are going with is going to do the same so each room has somewhat of a bar (we don't have all inclusive this year). Over the course of 7 days, you will drink it.

And believe me, when you are on day 4 of drinking heavily, the last thing you want to be downing is the rubbing alcohol that is coming out of the beverage gun at your resort.

Dont spend a lot of money there because practically every club in cancun is open bar. You do HAVE to get 1-2 bottles for the hotel room though, you don't want a good night to end too early!

Hey bro, thanks for the input. Unfortunately now that im an old man, i only can stand so much of the well drinks before i need my regular stuff, you know black label, ketel one, bombay saphire, you know the usual suspects...

think i may spend a bit, gonna be there for 7 full days i figure just me and a buddy and whoever else wants some we will need atleast 1.5 bottles a day :p

Is the duty free actually cheaper than a random liquor store in downtown cancun?

I can't imagine the alcohol there being too expensive, especially tequilaaa

What are you comparing to? Duty free in US, duty free in Cancun? And what kind of alcohol.

If tequila, duty free in Cancun airport > downtown liquor store > hotelzone liquor store. Duty free in Cancun airport > duty free in US airport but not sure how duty free in US compares to the Mexico liquor stores.

If Vodka, duty free in US airport > duty free in Cancun airport > downtown liquor store > hotelzone liquor store.

Think it in term of tax. Import tax will add cost to things not made domestically. Sales tax will add cost as well, hence duty free places are cheaper. Hotelzone is always most expensive because it's tourity.

You maybe able to find a liquor store that sell top shelf brands but it'll be more expensive. No reason not to get it at the duty free.

get the plastic federale grenades, they are like 2 bucks for a half gallon. Taste absolutely terrible, but do the trick.
