I took yesterday off from exercising .. I dont think there is any need to do it 7 days a week.. back at it today though.. weekend are hard as far as food goes .. but good for exercise time ..
Wanted to see what anyone though about this. I do 45 min. of cardio 5 days a week and weigh lifting 2 times a week. I'm on synthroid for hypo thyroid. So weight can be an issue for me. I do all this exercise, and I just stay at 135. Don't gain but can't lose that 10-15 pounds I would like. Heard on the Dr. Oz show the other day to help with weigh loss have 30grams of protein within 30 minutes after you wake up mornings. I started doing this, but with the thyroid meds in the morning I'm suppose to wait to eat for an hour. Hope it doesn't mess anything up. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts. Thanks!
I feel for you.. I dont have thyroid issuses but my weight is not budging.. I was talking to a co worker today and he said.. in the beginning .. decide up front what you want out of it..do you want to build or loose weight .. dont do both in the beginning.if its loose weight.. you can do strength training before you do your cardio with light weights, lots of reps not heavy, every day..before your cardo .. but do cardio.. as hard and as fast as you can... for at least 30 minutes every day minimum of 6 days a week.. and keep your heart rate up for the whole time you are working out.. he also said morning is best time for cardio before you eat.. then have a really good high protine breakfast.. and a really good lunch with some carbs..and start cutting down on carbs by dinner.. and do not eat past 7pm... I have no idea if this works.. he is a blackbelt something or other, trainer.. and in his day.. won a few weightlifting competitions.. I am going to try it... cant hurt thats for sure.. oh and he said.. make sure you are eating enough.. I am apparently not.. at 1200 a day.. he thinks if i am pushing myself to the max 6 days a week for 30 minutes .. I shoud have min 1500 per day.. with lots of water.. so there you have it!! good luck and stick with it ..
Hey...you aren't allowed to hang out with him. Tell him your husband has a platinum belt....lol (Just kiddin')
Thanks, I hope someone posts about this protein thing. He said you could use whey protein powder. Yes I do cardio for 45mins. at 5-5:30am three days a week with some stomach exercises, and Sat. & Sun I do 45mins cardio, and some weighs with about 25 reps. I'm probably doing weights about 30mins. The thing is I hear cardio cardio but weighs to keep muscle tone. It's hard with the thyroid issue and of course age.
Lots of people will say that Synroid itself will not cause weight gain. However, Synthroid is synthetic T4. In many people, synthetic T4-only treatment will result in weight gain. Why? Because it may not be adequate treatment. The theory is that when you ingest T4, your body will convert it adequately into the more active T3. But in a lot of hypo patients, it does not do an adequate job!! Being on synthetics can keep your T3 in the lower end of the range, and that can result in less energy, and more weight gain!!! When you add Cytomel (synthetic T3) to your daily regimine, and enough to get that T3 in the upper end of the range, you have a better chance of maintaining the ideal weight you want. You should talk to your doctor about Cytomel. Allternatively, maybe switching to a natural thyroid medication like "Armour" which contain enough T3 to raise that in your own system. A proper T3 level will restore your energy level to normal, as well as dealing with weight gain issues.
well with all the info i have heard and read.. i think that loosing your weight first makes sense to me .. then when you are at your ideal body weight. (LOST FAT) not so much what you weight then you can do some heavier weights.. i can tell you all about Dieting.. not much about what is the right way to exercise.. I am thinking, as long as you are exercising to push yourself.. get a good sweat on for min 30 minutes .. it SHOULD help to drop pounds.. i don't think that every one is the same .. its working to your own max..and I don't think you need weights to" keep" muscle tone.. but to build you would .. sounds like i know what i am talking about hey!... I don't..:icon_lol:
HEY !!! should we start calling you doctor Brewster.. you sure have alot of information.. Wow good stuff.
Ok why is everyone hung up on the number the scale says. REMEMBER partydoll it is the size you are NOT what the scale says!! And you will not burn enough calories on cardio only. You have to start thinking of cardio for your heart and activate dormant muscle cells to burn the calories!!!
