Hey there everyone.... i had sat down and wrote a trip report after we came home....but it was so long, that the website timed out on me....lol....i have had some pm's about cabo vs. cancun and thought i would try this again. i am not going to go into the day to day details...but i really want to get a few things out there.... this is OUR opinion only.....so here goes (gonna do it in bullet point fashion and see how long this ends up) Pros: 1) weather, hands down amazing. cabo wins this one. i could not say enough how beautiful it was. 2) beach, amazing....not swimable...but incredible wave/sunset watching...vs. the little marina/beach in cancun. Cons: 1) they did NOT play any music until about 1:00 each day. there was litterally elevator music, that started at about 9:30 ish...and that went until about 12:30 ish...then water aerobics...until about 1:00 ish. the music was only good for about an hour or so...because around 3:00...the "main" pool activity tried to happen. 2) the poor entertainment staff tried so hard to get people involved....it was really, really bad. we participated in almost every single thing...everyday....because there was just nobody interested (there were 4 of us that went on this trip together...so we accounted for 4 of the 8 or so people that played whatever it was they were doing and sometimes there were 1-2 staff members that played (tequilla water volley ball had us 4 and 2 staff members...so what, did we have 4 other people playing with us???) 3) the lobby.....soooooooo small. not that cancun was grand, by any means...but we estimated that the lobby was about the size of 3 of the hotel rooms....i mention this because it was our first impression and it kind of stunned us. 4) they had one restaurant...that they could not decide when it was going to be open. we were originally told wednesday and sunday night....we planned on going sunday, our last night. we got all dressed up, met at a certain time.....it was closed. they decided not to open it that night.....really? they did the same thing with lingerie night. website had said it was wednesday night.....but they changed it to saturday night....no notice, just on the board at the pool 5) the age group was a lot older. NOW BEFORE I OFFEND ANYONE....we are 40 ish....partied in cancun with people in their 60's....NO ISSUES HERE.....but it just seemed that the older people, really ACTED their age. We had even brought an ipod down to the pool one day and were not playing it very loud...but just could not handle the elevator music any longer....some lady asked us to turn it off. honestly, again i was shocked. we were playing like top 40 (usher, black eyed peas....so nothing obnoxious, or so we thought). 6) lets talk about the porn.....ok, not that we need the porn channels, but they are fun to have. we were there for 6 nights...and the porn in our room must have been on a constant loop. there was one of 3 scenes on at all times. the funny thing is, our friends also had 3 scenes being "looped"...but they had different people in theirs.... 7) my BIGGEST COMPLAINT-BEWARE-........so the 4 of us were about the only people dressed for lingerie night. I would say there was maybe 100 people at the resort when we went. about 10-12 dressed. the staff mixes this with fashion show night....so they do their show...then put on lingerie...and ask....no beg....the people dressed to come up on stage. so we do....we parade around....do the dance on the stripper pole...we are there to have fun...so what the hell. then they call all of us who participated in the lingerie show to come up for a final round of applause...or so we thought. THEY HAVE US ALL ON STAGE....SAY LETS GIVE EVERYONE A HAND...BLAH BLAH BLAH....THEN THEY SAY OK IT IS I PICTURE TIME. we are standing up there in very small lingerie...and the cast actually tells all the other guests to take pictures of us. they have us from the front, from the side and from the back. i was so shocked (given the great camera debate) that i didnt do anything. i felt so stupid that i just let everyone take pictures of me....but it happened so quickly, i didnt even realize what was going on until it was to late. so if you are thinking about participating....know this is what they do. 8) forgot to add, there are 24 chairs by the main pool (i counted)...you do have to get up and reserve...although it is about 7:30 not 6:00 like cancun. same pros at both resorts: 1) the amazing staff. i know how hard chinos and christian and the others work in cancun....honestly, the cabo people work 10 times as hard because there is NO participation. they are all awesome.....both resorts. 2) of course the great service....i think you actually may get better service in cabo just because there are way less people. i know i am forgetting stuff....but i am going to push the submit button before i time out again. I will update if i remember more. all in all....cabo vs. cancun....CANCUN. we will go back to cabo, probably a different resort though..... oh ya, no ocean view rooms....or at least just one or two....the way the resort is set up...makes it kind of impossible.....at least from what we saw.
thanks for your trip report. sorry things did not go well there for you. i have stayed at the riu and had a blast there so you might consider it on your next trip to cabo rob
Timing is everything. We were there from 11/26 - 11/30. Plenty of people, plenty of participation in daily activities. I am 40 and I was on the older side for this stay. We had a great time, sorry you did not have the same experience.
Hi-Sorry I missed you in Nov but I had to change my dates. Which after reading you report I am glad we did. We seem to have alot more fun. From the first minute I sat at my first chair we had people talking to us ready to have fun until the moment we were hugging new friends and saying goodbye. We hung-out more with some but everyone was so friendly. The medium age was 35-45 nobody over 55 and noone acting their age. You didn't even mention the hottub and how much fun that was. We spent 5-8 up there and 11-2am. Everyone mingling. That being said you are right about a lot of things. Only had about 8 particapating in the day activites but we were talking and drinking with our new friends we didn't really want to stop. As far as the night activites we made are own fun. We danced anywhere we could and didn't care that all the people were acting like duds. I wanted a certain bed to hang out at all day so I would get there early in the morning to save it. But you don't have to if you aren't picky. I like the elevator music in the morning but after 11 it should go more hard-core but I didn't notice as much because I never stop talking. We only stayed three night but if I stayed longer I would have to go out and explore more. But you have to remember along with the perfect weather the price is pretty perfect also.
We don't know much about Temptation Cabo although we are going to give it a try in February. Thanks for your TR and I hope we have a more lively crowd while we are there. I realize the resort is small, but 24 pool loungers is not many. We have six at our pool:icon_smile: at home. I am glad to hear the ent cast works hard to get some guests involved although the cast inspired photo opp seemed crazy.
Um....Sounds like Temptations to us... Not much new under the sun in that report. Sincerely sorry it was less than you expected though. That is why we have posted repeatedly to check out the Desire weeks or head to Cancun. Regrettably, amazing weeks at TTR Cabo seem few and far between. Even then they are not remotely comparable in crowd, food, drinks, party factor, participation--in short, everything! That said, as was noted, timing is everything. Temptations has some fun weeks with the right clientele. We're booked for Desire Cabo in May, but will probably also head to Desire Cancun in early February '11. We need some sun and fun after this early 30" Idaho snowfall. We probably won't spend our money on Temptations Cabo again--it's a shame; it is so close to us on the West Coast. Here's a link from our March TTR Cabo report. http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/tem...9-candid-trip-report-march-2nd-march-8th.html Hope it helps. Best....
I am sorry we missed you....but glad you had a good time. I guess it is the luck of the draw in Cabo. We did have some fun times and made some memories that we will never forget....but gonna stick with what works for us....and go back to Cancun. You are definately right about the price...plus it was only a quick 2 hour plane ride from where we are in Cali....
Hi Guys, I hope you have a great trip! Any day on vacation is better then a day in the office! I have to say, I am suprised that more people have not commented on the picture thing for lingerie night. It still shocks me :blueshock:
