Staying in the city part of cancun is gonna be cheaper than the hotel zone, and its only about a 10 min bus ride if I can remember right.

Price do not tend to rise in January. There is no pattern to travel prices except the last few seats on a flight and the last few rooms in a hotel will always be the most expensive. Deals can come out anytime. I always tell people to start looking early, not necessarily because it's cheaper to book early but because it gives you longer duration (more chances) to catch a good deal.

Why would you get on a Cancun website and ask where to go? The answer to that will obviously be biased. I'm making the commitment. Man up!

If only it was that simple! I am paying for two, so it gets a little tricky.

Also I posted the same thing on a PCB website to avoid only having one biased opinion lol

Planning a trip is not easy because you have to really know when prices will rise or drop. I've seen the cost of a flight change over $200 bucks in 24hrs and just the other day I saw a hotel for $30/night cheaper than it was the day prior. Bing is kind of helpful because it attempts to accurately forecast flights. I've heard good things about PCB; never been and nor have I been to Cancun. However, I think the for what you get and the fun you'll have your best bet is Cancun.

Sierra, im going the end of March-beginning of April.. if you wanna come stay in our room for a few nights, its cool =] its an All Inclusive hotel, if you did decide to come down those dates, so I dont know if you guys would have to get a day pass.. maybe check out the cheaper hotels, and just use it as a place to shower/sleep, and hang out at other hotels during the day ?

Sierra, I concur with Henry re: prices. I don't think I booked until mid-late January last year. Hell, it might even have been early February. I was waiting until I got a good price, which I eventually did.

Case and point. I want to go to this party outside Amsterdam during Presidents Day weekend. I'v been watching airfare for more than a month. It has been $700-800. Last night, it dropped to $450 and I immediately booked. Now the fare is back to $700. It pays to start checking early and check often.
